That softer pricing can help you buy more efficiently now, but it also means future resale may depend more on condition and mileage. Strong market demand for a versatile midsize pickup can help support value, especially if your truck presents well and has a clean history.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.7/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 Chevrolet Colorado or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 33.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 63.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.40% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2016 if:

• At $17,144, the 2016 costs less than the current year's $18,283 average.
• It offers a handsome look with real versatility.

The bottom line: If you want the stronger overall shopping position, the 2017 is the better primary pick because it combines solid owner satisfaction with a softer price trend and decent deal availability. If your budget is tighter, the 2016 is the better secondary path because it comes in cheaper while still delivering the Colorado’s core midsize-truck appeal.
