How much does the 2017 BMW X3 cost?

Prices have softened 10.92% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,126 listings available, which suggests solid inventory for shoppers comparing options.

Is the 2017 BMW X3 a good car?

Yes — the 4.69/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise the luxurious interior, smooth ride, and sporty performance, and many also value the cabin comfort, powerful engine, and practical features. For you, that makes this a strong fit if you want a compact luxury SUV that balances everyday usefulness with a more engaging driving feel. With 37.7% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is also meaningful market opportunity if you shop carefully.

Is the 2017 BMW X3 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.69/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback also points to a dependable-feeling ownership experience, with praise centered on comfort, smoothness, and the kind of performance people can count on day to day. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that premium ownership can bring higher maintenance and repair costs, so condition and service history matter.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 BMW X3?

At 64.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report so you can separate clean examples from cars with prior damage. After that, prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on body condition, signs of past repairs, and overall mechanical health. Because this is a premium SUV, you should also pay close attention to maintenance records and how well the vehicle has been cared for over time.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 BMW X3?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you stay disciplined.

• Deal availability: 37.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,126 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.92% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 64.2% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $12,456, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 BMW X3's resale value?

The current average of $12,456 sits slightly below last year's $13,983.

That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favorable entry point. If you plan to sell later, the current softness means your future resale value will depend heavily on condition, mileage, and how well the vehicle is documented. A well-kept example should still appeal to shoppers who want a premium compact SUV with strong driving appeal.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.69/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 BMW X3 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 37.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 64.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.92% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.69/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2018 if:

• At $17,921, the 2018 costs more than the current year's $12,456 average.
• It brings a fully redesigned third-generation update.

The bottom line: If you want the better value play, the 2017 is the stronger starting point because it combines a lower average price with solid owner satisfaction. If you want the newer redesign and are willing to pay more, the 2018 is the better upgrade path. For price-sensitive buyers, the 2017 is the more practical choice.
