Is the 2017 BMW 7 Series a good car?

Yes — the 2017 BMW 7 Series earns a 4.5/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Is the 2017 BMW 7 Series reliable?

The owner feedback also points to a dependable-feeling ownership experience in the areas that matter most to many luxury buyers, especially the smooth ride, strong performance, and overall comfort. At the same time, some reviewers mention high maintenance costs, so long-term ownership risk is more about expense than basic satisfaction.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 BMW 7 Series?

At 56.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report so you can separate clean examples from cars with prior damage or repeated claims. After that, prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially on a luxury sedan where repair costs can climb quickly. Focus on overall condition, service history, and how well the car’s technology and comfort features are working, since those are central to the ownership experience.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 BMW 7 Series?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but still move quickly on the right car.

• Deal availability: 36.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.

If you find a listing below $19,089, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 BMW 7 Series's resale value?

The current average of $19,089 sits slightly below last year's $21,502.

That decline suggests the market has already absorbed some depreciation, which can help future sellers if prices stabilize from here. For you, that means buying at today’s lower level may reduce the amount of value lost over the next ownership period compared with a purchase made when prices were higher. Strong demand for well-reviewed luxury sedans can also help support resale, especially when the car is well maintained and presented cleanly.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 BMW 7 Series or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 36.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 56.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.22% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2017 is a strong choice if you want the best balance of current pricing, owner satisfaction, and available inventory. If you are especially price-sensitive, it also makes sense to compare nearby years and focus on the cleanest, best-documented example rather than chasing the newest badge alone.
