How much does the 2017 BMW 3 Series cost?

Prices have softened 5.94% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,286 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of used 3 Series options to compare.

Is the 2017 BMW 3 Series a good car?

Generally — the 4.2/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. Drivers consistently praise its style, performance, comfort, spacious interior, and exceptional handling, which fits a car that is meant to feel engaging and premium. The overview also frames it as a good fit if you want a used luxury sedan with real driving character, broad configuration choices, and a businesslike luxury feel. With 33.9% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a meaningful chance to find a competitive offer.

Is the 2017 BMW 3 Series reliable?

Owners rate it 4.2/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The user feedback also points to a car that can be dependable and trouble-free when it has been well maintained, with some owners calling it a great value in that condition. At the same time, the overview notes that maintenance can be significant and reliability is not uniformly strong across the lineup, so used buyers should expect ownership risk to rise if service history is thin.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 BMW 3 Series?

At 52% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether any reported damage was repaired properly. Put inspection priority on maintenance records, engine condition, and signs of deferred upkeep, since the model’s ownership costs can be significant. Focus on overall condition rather than just mileage, because a well-kept example is much more likely to deliver the experience you want.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 BMW 3 Series?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile options.

• Deal availability: 33.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,286 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.94% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 52.0% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $13,478, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 BMW 3 Series's resale value?

The current average of $13,501 sits slightly below last year's $14,353.

That softer pricing suggests the market has cooled, which can help you buy more affordably now but may also limit near-term upside if you plan to resell soon. For a future seller, the key is to buy a well-kept example at the right price so depreciation has less room to work against you. Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.2/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 BMW 3 Series or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 33.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 52% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.94% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.2/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2016 if:

• At $11,649, the 2016 costs less than the current year's $13,501 average.
• It emphasizes thrilling performance with everyday usability.

The bottom line: You should start with the 2017 if you want the stronger current-market balance of price, inventory, and owner satisfaction. If your priority is spending less upfront, the 2016 is the better value path, especially if you find one with strong maintenance records.
