Is the 2017 Alfa Romeo Giulia reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner summary also points to a car that many drivers find enjoyable over time, with praise centered on its driving experience and overall appeal. The expert write-up reinforces that sense of confidence by describing the chassis as balanced and the power delivery as smooth and linear.

The cost-effectiveness notes add that the car can be a risk if you want something fully proven, and some owners mention small fit-and-finish issues and service-frequency concerns. For used buyers, that means you should expect a rewarding ownership experience, but only if you’re comfortable checking condition carefully and budgeting for possible upkeep.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Alfa Romeo Giulia?

At 60.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle-history report and confirm whether any prior damage was repaired properly. A pre-purchase inspection matters here, especially if you’re comparing cars with similar prices but different condition histories.

Pay close attention to fit and finish, service records, and any signs that the car has been maintained consistently. Because some owners mention service-frequency concerns, a clean maintenance trail is especially valuable.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The cabin and equipment can vary meaningfully, and the base setup is described as less polished in materials and controls than the car’s design suggests.
• Powertrain: The Giulia uses a 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder with strong low-end torque and an 8-speed automatic, while the Quadrifoglio moves to a 2.9-liter twin-turbo V6 with much higher output.
• Safety package: Optional packages can add modern autonomous and passive safety systems, while the standard car includes front, front-side, rear-side, rear-head, and rear body airbags.
• Infotainment: The system is described as unconventional and sometimes tedious, and it does not offer Android Auto or Apple CarPlay.
• Fuel efficiency: The base engine is rated at 24 mpg city and 33 mpg highway, while the Quadrifoglio is rated at 17 mpg city, 24 mpg highway, and 20 mpg combined.

Which 2017 Alfa Romeo Giulia trim should I buy?

The 2017 Alfa Romeo Giulia is offered in 2 trim levels: Giulia and Giulia Ti.

Here's the short version:

• Giulia: This is the entry point, and it gives you the core Giulia experience with the turbocharged 4-cylinder, rear-wheel drive, and the car’s standout steering and chassis feel. It makes sense if you want the most affordable way into the model and care most about the driving character.
• Giulia Ti: This is the better-value choice if you want a more complete version of the car, especially because the content points to access to unique packages such as the Ti Performance package with adaptive suspension and a mechanical limited-slip differential. If you want the strongest blend of everyday usability and enthusiast appeal, this is the trim to target.

Optional packages can add modern autonomous and passive safety systems, so check the equipment list carefully on any used example.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Alfa Romeo Giulia?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully without feeling rushed.

• Deal availability: 33.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 243 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.38% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 60.9% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $13,343, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Alfa Romeo Giulia's resale value?

The current average of $13,513 sits slightly below last year's $13,985.

That tells you the market has softened, which can help you as a buyer but may limit short-term upside if you plan to resell soon. If you buy at the right price and keep the car in strong condition, you can reduce the impact of that depreciation.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2017 Alfa Romeo Giulia safe?

The 2017 Alfa Romeo Giulia earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

It comes standard with front, front-side, rear-side, rear-head, and rear body airbags, which gives you a broad passive-safety foundation. The expert notes also say optional packages can add modern autonomous and passive safety systems.

One caveat is that neither NHTSA nor IIHS evaluated this model year in the provided data, so you should lean more heavily on the equipment list and the car’s condition when shopping used.

Should I buy a 2017 Alfa Romeo Giulia or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 33.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 60.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.38% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The expert summary emphasizes a communicative chassis, unbelievably direct steering, and a deliciously exotic engine.

The bottom line: If you want the most distinctive driving experience and a used price that has already come down, the 2017 is the one to focus on. If you’re more price-sensitive, shop carefully for the cleanest, best-documented example rather than stretching for the cheapest listing.
