Used 2016 Toyota Tundra for Sale nearHouston, TX

How much does the 2016 Toyota Tundra cost?

Prices have softened 2.15% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,299 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of trucks to compare.

Is the 2016 Toyota Tundra a good car?

Generally — the 2016 Toyota Tundra earns 4.3/5 from owners and 6.5/10 from our experts. The standout strength is Form and function at 8/10.

Owners repeatedly praise its power, reliability, smooth ride quality, interior comfort, and resale value. For you, that means this truck fits best if you want a traditional full-size pickup with strong presence and straightforward capability rather than the newest fuel-saving tech.

The market also looks workable for shoppers, with 31.3% of listings marked as good or great deals.

Is the 2016 Toyota Tundra reliable?

Owners rate it 4.3/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to reliability, and it also highlights the truck as something many drivers can count on over time. The expert notes reinforce that dependable, long-haul character by describing the Tundra as a truck with durability and strong resale value.

Toyota’s cost-effectiveness notes also point to a Best Resale Value Award from Kelley Blue Book, which supports the case for long-term ownership. Even so, used buyers should still watch for repair-cost exposure and inspect carefully for signs of expensive wear.

What should I look for when buying a used 2016 Toyota Tundra?

At 56.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should run a vehicle history report before you commit, then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on body condition, repair quality, and any signs of past collision work. Because owner feedback mentions repair costs and oil leaks, it makes sense to pay close attention to maintenance records and underhood condition as well.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Tundra’s trim ladder adds meaningful equipment as you move up, with the SR5 bringing fog lights, HD and satellite radio, a tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, and an auto-dimming rear-view mirror, while the Limited adds automatic headlights, dual-zone climate controls, a power-sliding rear window, and navigation. The Platinum example also shows how upper trims can add a spacious CrewMax cabin, a 5.5-foot bed, and more convenience features.
• Powertrain: The truck uses a 381-hp 5.7-liter V8 with 401 lb-ft of torque and a 6-speed automatic, and it is described as grunty and stout. It also delivers a 10,500-pound towing capacity, but fuel economy is a weak point at 13 mpg city and 17 highway.
• Safety package: Standard safety equipment includes traction and stability control, trailer brake and sway control, eight airbags, and full-length side airbags. Rear camera, front and rear parking sonar, and blind-spot monitor with cross-traffic alert are available, but not standard.
• Infotainment: The upgraded Entune system includes real-time traffic and weather, and it uses a 7-inch screen. Standard tech also includes heated mirrors and wipers, USB ports, and an auxiliary jack, while higher trims add features such as navigation.
• Fuel efficiency: The truck is rated at 13 mpg city, 17 highway, and 15 combined, which is a major tradeoff for its capability.

Which 2016 Toyota Tundra trim should I buy?

The 2016 Toyota Tundra is offered in 3 trim levels: SR5, Limited, Platinum.

Here's the short version:

• SR5: This is the trim that adds the most useful everyday equipment over the base setup, including fog lights, HD and satellite radio, a tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, and an auto-dimming rear-view mirror. If you want the best value without chasing luxury extras, this is the one to start with.
• Limited: This trim is the better pick if you want more comfort and convenience, thanks to automatic headlights, dual-zone climate controls, a power-sliding rear window, and navigation. It makes the truck feel more polished for daily use.
• Platinum: This is the most upscale version in the data, and the example shown includes the CrewMax body, a spacious back seat, a 5.5-foot bed, and the 5.7-liter V8. Choose it if you want the most comfort and equipment and are willing to pay for it.

Safety equipment such as the rear camera, parking sonar, and blind-spot monitor remains available rather than standard, so check each listing carefully.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Toyota Tundra?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop with some leverage if you stay patient.

• Deal availability: 31.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,299 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.15% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 56.3% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $24,750, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 Toyota Tundra's resale value?

The current average of $25,152 sits slightly below last year's $25,706.

That softer pricing suggests the truck has become a bit easier to buy, which can help you if you're shopping now. For a future seller, the recent decline means you may not see the same pricing strength that was present a year ago, so condition and trim will matter even more when it is time to list.

The Tundra still has a resale-friendly reputation, and that helps support demand over time. Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.3/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2016 Toyota Tundra safe?

The Toyota Tundra earns a four-star overall rating from NHTSA, and the CrewMax specifically rated only three-star in frontal impacts and rollovers. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety awarded its highest rating of Good in all tested segments.

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety equipment includes traction and stability control, trailer brake and sway control, eight airbags, and full-length side airbags. A rear camera, front and rear parking sonar, and blind-spot monitor with cross-traffic alert are available, but not standard.

The CrewMax’s lower frontal and rollover results are the main caveat to keep in mind if safety is a top priority.

Should I buy a 2016 Toyota Tundra or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 31.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 56.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.15% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.3/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• Toyota updated it for 2016 with an upgraded Entune system, a larger gas tank, and an integrated brake controller for upper trim levels.

Consider the 2015 if:

• At $23,822, the 2015 costs less than the current year's $25,152 average.
• The 2015 stands out most in TRD Pro trim, where suspension upgrades and distinctive detailing give it a rugged, hard-to-miss character.

The bottom line: If you want the better-balanced shopping target, the 2016 is the stronger pick because it adds useful updates and still offers decent deal availability. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2015 is worth a look, especially if you find a well-kept TRD Pro example.

How does the 2016 Toyota Tundra compare to the 2016 Ford F-150?

Our experts score the 2016 Toyota Tundra 6.5/10 and the 2016 Ford F-150 8.5/10.

The Tundra brings stronger standard V8 character and a higher towing figure in the data shown here, but it trails the F-150 on fuel economy, pricing, and overall market depth. The Ford also has a larger pool of listings and a lower average used price, which makes it easier to shop and compare.
