Is the 2016 Toyota Sequoia a good car?

Yes — the 2016 Toyota Sequoia earns a 5/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. It stands out as a full-size, body-on-frame SUV with three-row practicality, truck-like toughness, and seating for up to eight passengers depending on the second-row layout. Its appeal is rooted in proven mechanicals, strong towing ability, dependable powertrains, and long-running value retention, while its older-school design keeps it focused on space and capability over refinement. 32.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2016 Toyota Sequoia reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2016 Toyota Sequoia is described as a reliable family hauler with tried-and-true components, and it benefits from the 5.7-liter V8 that became standard across the lineup from 2013 onward. Its reputation for durability is a major part of its appeal, especially if you want a large SUV built around proven hardware rather than complexity. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about the core mechanical formula and more about finding one that has been maintained well over time.

What should I look for when buying a used 2016 Toyota Sequoia?

At 52.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report so you can confirm accident records, title status, and ownership patterns before you get too far into the process. After that, prioritize a thorough inspection of the body, frame, and undercarriage, since condition matters a lot on a large SUV that may have seen towing or heavy family use. Focus on overall wear, maintenance evidence, and signs that the truck-like chassis has been cared for properly.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Toyota Sequoia?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile options.

• Deal availability: 32.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 224 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.94% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 52.7% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $23,618, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 Toyota Sequoia's resale value?

The current average of $23,618 sits slightly below last year's $25,110.

That price movement suggests the market has eased, which can help you buy more selectively today but may also mean future resale gains are more limited if the trend continues. For a seller, the key advantage is that the Sequoia still has a clear identity: it is a rugged, three-row SUV with strong towing ability and a reputation for durability. Those traits help support demand, especially among buyers who want capability and long-term dependability over crossover-style comfort.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 Toyota Sequoia or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 32.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 52.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.94% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: You should lean toward the 2016 if you want the Sequoia’s proven V8, rugged body-on-frame character, and strong owner satisfaction in a market that has softened a bit. If you are especially price-sensitive, a nearby year may be worth considering, but the 2016 remains a solid target when you want a full-size SUV with durability and utility at the center of the package.
