Owners consistently praise the smooth, quiet ride, the spacious interior, and the cargo capacity. What should I look for when buying a used 2016 Toyota Camry?

At 45.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has higher mileage or incomplete service records. Focus on condition details that matter in daily use: tire wear, brake feel, interior wear, and any signs of prior bodywork or electrical issues. If a listing looks unusually cheap, make sure the condition supports the price before you move forward.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base setup is already well equipped, but higher trims add features like a more advanced audio system, keyless entry and ignition, a blind-spot monitor with cross-traffic alert, and a convenience package with an auto-dimming rearview mirror.
• Powertrain: The hybrid setup pairs a 2.5-liter inline four-cylinder engine with an electric motor and Ni-MH battery pack, and it is tuned for smooth, responsive everyday driving rather than excitement.
• Safety package: Available driver-assistance features include Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, lane-departure alert, blind-spot monitoring with cross-traffic alert, a pre-collision system, and automatic high beams.
• Infotainment: The cabin uses a 7-inch touchscreen with Entune Premium, and it includes USB and Aux inputs plus dual 12-volt outlets. Wireless phone charging is also available.
• Fuel efficiency: The Camry Hybrid is rated at 40 mpg city and 38 mpg highway.

Should I buy a 2016 Toyota Camry or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 30.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 45.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.57/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The expert review says it is competent across the board and especially easy to live with.

Consider the 2015 if:

• At $13,068, the 2015 costs less than the current year's $13,754 average.
• It adds more polished styling and expanded infotainment and safety tech.

Consider the 2017 if:

• At $14,981, the 2017 costs more than the current year's $13,754 average.
• It represents the last year of the generation and remains a very competent family sedan.

The bottom line: If you want the best balance of price stability, owner satisfaction, and everyday usability, the 2016 is the sensible pick. If your priority is spending less, the 2015 is the value path; if you want the newest version in this generation and are willing to pay more, the 2017 is the alternative to compare.
