Is the 2016 Subaru Impreza a good car?

Yes — the 2016 Subaru Impreza earns a 5/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. The overview frames it as a practical all-weather compact that still leans into Subaru’s performance-minded identity, especially for buyers who want something usable every day but still engaging when the road gets interesting. With 30.0% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is meaningful market opportunity if you shop carefully.

Is the 2016 Subaru Impreza reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The overview suggests the 2016 Subaru Impreza can be appealing for buyers who want a durable-feeling, all-weather compact with a distinctive performance edge. It also makes clear that many examples have been heavily used, abused, or modified, so condition matters a lot more than mileage alone. For used buyers, the biggest long-term ownership risk is ending up with a car that has been driven hard or altered without proper maintenance.

What should I look for when buying a used 2016 Subaru Impreza?

At 58.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a full vehicle history report so you can separate clean examples from cars with accident or title issues. After that, prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially on cars that look modified or unusually worn. Focus on overall condition, maintenance evidence, and signs of hard use, since the overview notes that many examples have been heavily used, abused, or modified.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Subaru Impreza?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you have room to shop without rushing.

• Deal availability: 30.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 766 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 1.39% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 58.5% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $10,349, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 Subaru Impreza's resale value?

The current average of $10,839 sits slightly below last year's $10,992.

That modest decline suggests the market has softened a bit, which can make the car easier to buy than to sell at a premium. If you plan to resell later, condition will matter a lot, because cleaner examples are more likely to stand out in a market where many listings have prior incidents or heavy use. The price range also shows there is still a defined ceiling for well-kept cars, which can help support value if yours is in strong shape.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 Subaru Impreza or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 30.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 58.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 1.39% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2015 if:

• At $10,161, the 2015 costs less than the current year's $10,839 average.
• It adds a more polished cabin and better interior tech.

Consider the 2017 if:

• At $12,583, the 2017 costs more than the current year's $10,839 average.
• It brings standard all-wheel drive and a more practical all-new design.

The bottom line: If you want the strongest balance of price, satisfaction, and market availability, the 2016 is the primary year to target. If you are more price-sensitive, the 2015 is the better value play, while the 2017 makes sense if you want to spend more for the newer redesign and can stretch your budget.
