The 2016 Nissan Rogue stands out as a compact crossover that leans hard into practicality, value, and everyday ease of use. By this generation, the Rogue had moved toward a more upright SUV look, while still keeping the same basic size and drivetrain formula that made it appealing in the first place. It was also positioned as a more premium-feeling family vehicle, with a straightforward lineup built around a 2.5-liter engine, Nissan’s Xtronic CVT transmission, and the choice of front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive.
What makes the 2016 model especially appealing is the amount of useful equipment it offered for the money. Even the entry-level S included a rear-view camera, while SV and above added dual-zone climate control, power driver’s seat adjustment, automatic headlights, Sirius satellite radio, and NissanConnect. The Rogue SL went further with a power liftgate and Nissan’s Intelligent around view monitor, which uses external cameras to create a bird’s-eye view on the touchscreen and makes tight parking easier. It also remained the only Rogue generation offered with seven seats as an option, and all versions had reclining second-row seats plus Divide-N-Hide cargo panels for organizing or concealing items in the trunk.

The EPA fuel economy rating was described as pretty average, and the Xtronic transmission is the main thing to watch for because owners have reported juddering, noise, and even total failure. Still, for buyers who want a roomy, well-equipped used crossover with a comfortable feel and a strong value proposition, the 2016 Nissan Rogue has a lot going for it.

Nissan Rogue SV 2016 is a great car in its class. I had a comparison between a this and a Ford Escape 2017. The only reason to choose Nissan over Ford is the interior design in the base model of Nissan is way ahead. Ford comes with a tad more powerful engine, lower mpg and interiors that are way less in the base model. However, the only feature which I do not like so far is the engine start button on Nissan. Still trying to figure all the electronics and controls as my previous vehicle was way too manual.

Starting with 2014 models, the Rogue has impressive styling, elegant interior, a nice amount of cargo space, AWD available in all trim levels, and still very good gas mileage of 26 city / 33 highway. Great competitor for Toyota RAV4 and Honda CR-V.
