Used 2016 Nissan Murano for Sale nearMount Pleasant, MI

How much does the 2016 Nissan Murano cost?

Prices have softened 6.09% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,161 listings available, which suggests you have a workable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2016 Nissan Murano a good car?

Generally — the 2016 Nissan Murano earns a 4/5 user rating and a 6.83/10 expert rating. The model scores 8/10 across Look and feel and Safety.

The Murano’s appeal is rooted in its bold styling and distinctive cabin design, and the overview makes clear that it prioritizes visual character over modern substance. The expert review reinforces that split, describing it as a vehicle that leans heavily on style while the rest of the package can feel less current. For you, that means the Murano makes the most sense if you want a crossover with strong personality and a comfort-oriented feel rather than a sharp-driving, cutting-edge one.

32.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2016 Nissan Murano reliable?

Owners rate it 4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The expert review describes the Murano’s 3.5-liter V6 as refined, efficient, deceptively strong, and dependable over time, which supports the idea that the core powertrain is a strength. It also notes that the CVT was improved to feel more like a conventional automatic, even if it can still hunt between ratios on grades. The cost-effectiveness commentary adds that the model has consistently demonstrated outstanding reliability over the years.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about outright durability and more about finding a well-kept example whose condition matches its mileage and history.

What should I look for when buying a used 2016 Nissan Murano?

At 61.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the listing price looks unusually attractive. Focus on body condition, signs of prior repair, and whether the vehicle’s equipment and safety systems work as expected. Because this model’s appeal is tied so closely to design and comfort, condition matters a lot when you’re comparing similar-priced examples.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Murano is styled and equipped to straddle the line between mainstream and luxury crossover SUVs, and the cabin is described as tasteful and upscale. The base trim is the one most likely to leave you wanting more equipment, while higher trims add more of the premium feel this model is trying to deliver.
• Powertrain: Every 2016 Murano uses a 260-horsepower, 3.5-liter V6 paired with a continuously variable transmission. The engine is described as refined, efficient, and deceptively strong, but the CVT can hunt between ratios on grades.
• Safety package: The Murano earns a Top Safety Pick+ rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. It can be optioned with Predictive Forward Collision Warning, automatic emergency braking, Driver Attention Alert, and blind-spot monitoring, but lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, and pedestrian-detection capability are missing.
• Infotainment: The system includes a responsive touchscreen, NissanConnect with Mobile Apps, satellite radio, Bluetooth streaming audio, voice recognition, and a hands-free text-messaging assistant. Upgrade to NissanConnect with Navigation and you get an 8-inch touchscreen, online Google search capability, and SiriusXM Travel Link services, but Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are not available.
• Fuel efficiency: The review says the Murano returned 21.1 mpg in combined driving in testing, and it notes that this fell short of the expected 24 mpg combined estimate.

Which 2016 Nissan Murano trim should I buy?

The 2016 Nissan Murano is offered in 4 trim levels: S, SV, SL, Platinum.

Here's the short version:

• S: This is the entry point, so it makes sense if you want the Murano’s styling and V6 power at the lowest price. It is the trim most likely to feel stripped back compared with the others, so buy it only if you’re comfortable giving up some of the upscale touches that define the model.
• SV: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds more of the equipment that makes the Murano feel modern and comfortable without pushing all the way to the top of the range. If you want a balanced mix of features and price, this is the one to target.
• SL: This trim moves the Murano further toward a premium feel, making it a better fit if you want more comfort and convenience equipment than the SV provides.
• Platinum: This is the most fully equipped version and suits you if you want the most upscale Murano experience, including the richest feature set and the strongest luxury-leaning presentation.

The safety package can be optioned with several advanced driver-assistance features, but some important aids are still missing, so check each listing carefully for the exact equipment installed.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Nissan Murano?

This is a moderate, selective-buyer market, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.

• Deal availability: 32.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,161 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.09% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 61.8% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $11,625, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 Nissan Murano's resale value?

The current average of $11,625 sits slightly below last year's $12,379.

That decline suggests the Murano has softened in the market, which can help you buy at a more favorable entry point today. For a future seller, that also means resale value may depend heavily on condition, mileage, and equipment level rather than on broad market momentum alone. If you keep the vehicle clean, well-documented, and properly maintained, you’ll be in a better position to preserve value when it’s time to sell.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2016 Nissan Murano safe?

The 2016 Nissan Murano earns a Top Safety Pick+ rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

The Murano can be equipped with Predictive Forward Collision Warning, automatic emergency braking, Driver Attention Alert, and blind-spot monitoring. That said, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, and pedestrian-detection capability are missing, so you should verify which driver-assistance features are actually present on the used example you’re considering.

Should I buy a 2016 Nissan Murano or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 32.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 61.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.09% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• The expert review says the 2016 Murano is about style over substance, with a bold redesign that moves the design forward while the rest of the vehicle can feel stuck in the past.

The bottom line: If you want the Murano’s standout styling and a comfortable, V6-powered crossover at a softer price, the 2016 is a reasonable buy. If you’re more focused on newer tech and a more modern-feeling package, a later model year may be the better path, especially if you’re willing to pay more for updated features.
