Used 2016 Nissan Murano for SaleNationwide

How much does the 2016 Nissan Murano cost?

Prices have softened 5.33% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,161 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of options to compare.

Is the 2016 Nissan Murano a good car?

Generally — the 2016 Nissan Murano earns a 4/5 user rating and a 6.83/10 expert rating. The model scores 8/10 across Look and feel and Safety.

The Murano’s appeal is rooted in its bold styling and its attempt to straddle mainstream and luxury crossover territory. It is especially suited to you if you want a crossover that makes a strong visual statement and prioritizes style, comfort, and a polished cabin over sporty handling or cutting-edge substance.

33.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which suggests there are still worthwhile opportunities if you shop carefully.

Is the 2016 Nissan Murano reliable?

Owners rate it 4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2016 Murano is described as having dependable mechanicals, and its 3.5-liter V6 is called refined, efficient, and deceptively strong. The CVT is presented as improved over older versions because it behaves more like a regular automatic, even though it can still hunt between ratios on grades.

The ownership picture is helped by the model’s reputation for durability, but you should still pay close attention to transmission behavior and overall maintenance history when shopping used.

What should I look for when buying a used 2016 Nissan Murano?

At 63.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the listing price looks unusually attractive. Focus on body condition, signs of prior repair, and whether the vehicle’s equipment and safety systems work as expected.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Murano is styled and equipped to straddle the line between mainstream and luxury crossover SUVs, and the cabin is described as tasteful and upscale. The base trim is the one most likely to leave you wanting more equipment, so compare it carefully against higher trims if you want a more premium feel.
• Powertrain: Every 2016 Murano uses a 260-horsepower, 3.5-liter V6 paired with a CVT. The engine is described as refined, efficient, and strong, but the transmission can hunt between ratios on grades, so pay attention to how smoothly it drives in real-world use.
• Safety package: The Murano earns a Top Safety Pick+ rating from IIHS. It can be optioned with Predictive Forward Collision Warning, automatic emergency braking, Driver Attention Alert, and blind-spot monitoring, but lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, and pedestrian-detection capability are missing.
• Infotainment: The system offers a responsive touchscreen, modern graphics, NissanConnect with Mobile Apps, satellite radio, Bluetooth streaming audio, voice recognition, and a hands-free text-messaging assistant. Upgrade to NissanConnect with Navigation for an 8-inch touchscreen and online Google search capability, but Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are not available.
• Fuel efficiency: The review says the Murano did not match the EPA’s combined estimate in real-world driving, logging 21.1 mpg.

Which 2016 Nissan Murano trim should I buy?

The 2016 Nissan Murano is offered in 4 trim levels: S, SV, SL, Platinum.

Here's the short version:

• S: This is the entry point, and it makes sense if you want the Murano’s styling and V6 power at the lowest price. It is the trim most likely to feel stripped back compared with the others, so it suits you best if value matters more than equipment.
• SV: This is the best-value choice if you want a more balanced mix of equipment and price. It should be the trim to target if you want a step up from the base model without chasing the highest-priced versions.
• SL: This trim is the better fit if you want a more upscale experience and are willing to pay for it. It is aimed at buyers who want more comfort and convenience without going all the way to the top trim.
• Platinum: This is the most fully equipped version and the right pick if you want the Murano at its most premium. It suits you best if you want the richest feature set and are willing to pay for it.

The safety package is strong overall, but some driver-assistance features remain optional rather than standard, so check each listing closely.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Nissan Murano?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory to shop around but still enough pricing variation to reward patience.

• Deal availability: 33.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,161 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.33% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 63.5% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $11,820, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 Nissan Murano's resale value?

The current average of $11,820 sits slightly below last year's $12,485.

That decline suggests the Murano has already absorbed some of its near-term depreciation, which can help future sellers if they buy at the right price. If you purchase near the lower end of the range and keep the vehicle in good condition, you may be better positioned when it comes time to sell.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2016 Nissan Murano safe?

The 2016 Nissan Murano earns a Top Safety Pick+ rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

The Murano can be optioned with Predictive Forward Collision Warning, automatic emergency braking, Driver Attention Alert, and blind-spot monitoring. However, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, and pedestrian-detection capability are missing, so you should not assume every modern driver-assistance feature is included.

Should I buy a 2016 Nissan Murano or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 33.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 63.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.33% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• The 2016 Murano is defined by style over substance, with bold design and a cabin that feels more modern than the rest of the vehicle.

The bottom line: If you want the Murano’s bold styling and you value a lower current price, the 2016 is a reasonable buy. If you are shopping primarily on equipment and want a more up-to-date feel, it can make sense to compare nearby years and focus on the best-equipped listing you can find at the right price.
