How much does the 2016 Mercedes-Benz S-Class cost?

Prices have softened 10.72% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 945 listings available, which gives you a solid pool to compare prices and equipment.

Is the 2016 Mercedes-Benz S-Class a good car?

The 2016 Mercedes-Benz S-Class is a compelling choice if you want a flagship luxury sedan that emphasizes comfort, technology, and refinement, though you should weigh that against ownership costs. It has a user rating of 3.9/5, and drivers commonly praise its luxurious feel, advanced amenities, great handling, value for money, and strong performance relative to competitors. The overview also points to a car that suits buyers who want a richly appointed full-size sedan with standout cabin craftsmanship and a long list of advanced features. With 32.3% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is meaningful shopping opportunity if you compare carefully.

Is the 2016 Mercedes-Benz S-Class reliable?

The 2016 Mercedes-Benz S-Class is described as having a very good reliability record overall, even though upkeep can be steep. User feedback also points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience for many drivers, especially when it comes to the car’s long-term appeal and strong performance. At the same time, maintenance costs and electronic components can become a challenge over time, so a well-documented service history matters if you want to reduce long-term ownership risk.

What should I look for when buying a used 2016 Mercedes-Benz S-Class?

At 59.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report so you can confirm accident records, title status, and service history before you go any further. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on suspension, electrical systems, and any signs of expensive wear, since those areas matter most on a used luxury sedan like this. When you evaluate individual cars, pay close attention to overall condition and maintenance documentation rather than just mileage or trim level.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Mercedes-Benz S-Class?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you have room to shop carefully rather than rush.

• Deal availability: 32.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 945 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.72% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 59.6% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $28,224, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 Mercedes-Benz S-Class's resale value?

The current average of $28,235 sits slightly below last year's $31,625.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled, which can help you buy more selectively today. If you plan to sell later, the softer pricing means your future resale value may depend heavily on condition, mileage, and service records. A well-kept example should hold up better than one with incomplete maintenance or visible wear, especially in a luxury segment where buyers expect a lot.

Should I buy a 2016 Mercedes-Benz S-Class or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 32.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 59.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.72% compared with last year.

The bottom line: The 2016 is the right path if you want a well-equipped flagship sedan at a more approachable used price than newer examples, especially if you can verify condition and history carefully. If you are more price-sensitive, a nearby year may be worth comparing for a lower entry cost, but the 2016 remains attractive when you want luxury features and a softer market price in the same package.
