How much does the 2017 Mercedes-Benz S-Class cost?

Prices have softened 4.69% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 698 listings available, which suggests you have a meaningful amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2017 Mercedes-Benz S-Class a good car?

Yes — the 4.9/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise its elegant design, driving experience, performance, safety, and comfort, which fits a full-size luxury sedan that is meant to feel refined and well appointed. If you want a flagship sedan with a strong emphasis on comfort and high-end presentation, this model year lines up well with that use case. With 34.5% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2017 Mercedes-Benz S-Class reliable?

Owners rate it 4.9/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback also describes it as dependable and trouble-free, with reliability and long-term confidence coming through alongside the praise for comfort and performance. That said, used luxury ownership still carries risk, so you should expect maintenance and repair exposure to matter more than they would on a simpler sedan.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Mercedes-Benz S-Class?

At 60.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report so you can separate clean examples from cars with accident records. After that, prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on condition, repair quality, and signs of deferred maintenance. Because this is a high-end luxury car, you should pay close attention to how well the electronics, comfort features, and overall presentation have been maintained.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Mercedes-Benz S-Class?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find opportunities.

• Deal availability: 34.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 698 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.69% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 60.6% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $37,953, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Mercedes-Benz S-Class's resale value?

The current average of $38,228 sits slightly below last year's $40,109.

That softer pricing suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy more selectively now. For a future seller, that also means resale value will depend heavily on condition, mileage, and how well the car has been maintained. Well-kept examples should hold up better than average because shoppers in this segment tend to reward strong presentation and a premium ownership experience.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.9/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 Mercedes-Benz S-Class or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 34.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 60.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.69% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.9/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: You should focus on the 2017 if you want a well-liked, well-equipped flagship sedan and you can be selective about condition and history. If your priority is stretching your budget further, a nearby year with lower average pricing may be worth considering, but the 2017 remains the stronger choice when you want the best balance of owner satisfaction and current market value.
