Used 2016 Lexus RX for Sale nearVirginia Beach, VA

How much does the 2016 Lexus RX cost?

Prices have held steady compared to this time last year, signaling a stable and predictable market for this model year.

There are 1,488 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare before you buy.

Is the 2016 Lexus RX a good car?

Generally — the 2016 Lexus RX earns a 4.3/5 user rating and a 7.8/10 expert rating, which points to broad appeal for shoppers who value comfort and refinement. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel, Technology, and Safety.

Owners consistently praise its comfort, reliability, luxury features, smooth ride, and loaded interior. The main trade-offs are its sluggish performance and a design that some drivers find polarizing.

That lines up with the RX’s mission as a luxury SUV that puts comfort first, especially if you want a smooth-riding daily driver rather than a sharper-handling crossover. With 35.5% of listings marked as good or great deals, there’s also meaningful market value to consider.

Is the 2016 Lexus RX reliable?

Owners rate it 4.3/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to reliability, dependability, and a trouble-free ownership experience, with drivers also highlighting comfort and luxury features. The expert drive notes reinforce that the RX is built around smooth, quiet, traditional luxury rather than constant drama, which supports the sense that it’s a vehicle you can count on.

The cost-effectiveness notes also frame the RX as a bargain relative to German rivals, which helps its long-term ownership case. For used buyers, the main risk is that any transmission complaints or other wear-related issues should be checked carefully before you commit.

What should I look for when buying a used 2016 Lexus RX?

At 52.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially if the listing price looks unusually attractive. Focus on overall condition, signs of prior bodywork, and whether the vehicle’s equipment and driving behavior match the seller’s description.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The F Sport model adds larger 20-inch wheels and a firmer adaptive suspension, while the standard RX is tuned more for comfort than aggression.
• Powertrain: A 3.5-liter V6 with 295 horsepower comes standard with an 8-speed automatic, and all-wheel drive is optional.
• Safety package: Lexus Safety System + includes forward-collision alert with auto-braking, pedestrian detection, lane-departure warning, and adaptive cruise control with lane-keeping assist. Blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert is also available.
• Infotainment: The RX uses a navigation system with voice input, live traffic and weather, Bluetooth streaming, HD Radio, two USB ports, and telematics features.
• Fuel efficiency: The RX 350 AWD is rated at 19 mpg city and 26 mpg highway, and it takes regular 87-octane gasoline.

Which 2016 Lexus RX trim should I buy?

The 2016 Lexus RX is offered in 2 trim levels: RX 350 and RX 450h.

Here's the short version:

• RX 350: This is the best-value choice if you want the core RX experience: a smooth ride, strong comfort, and the standard V6 setup. It gives you the luxury-first character the model is known for without pushing you into the pricier hybrid path.
• RX 450h: Choose this if you want the hybrid powertrain and the added efficiency-oriented setup described in the test-drive data. It suits buyers who want the RX’s comfort with a more fuel-conscious approach.

The safety package note to keep in mind is that Lexus Safety System + is the key driver-assistance bundle, and it adds meaningful active-safety coverage.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Lexus RX?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you have room to shop carefully without feeling rushed.

• Deal availability: 35.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,488 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 52.9% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $21,781, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 Lexus RX's resale value?

The current average of $22,042 sits slightly below last year's $22,134.

That small decline suggests the RX has held its value fairly well rather than dropping sharply. For a future seller, that kind of stability is helpful because it points to steady buyer interest instead of a weakening market.

The RX’s strong reputation for comfort, safety, and value should continue to support demand. Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.3/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2016 Lexus RX safe?

The 2016 Lexus RX earns a Top Safety Pick+ rating from the IIHS.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Lexus Safety System + includes forward-collision alert with auto-braking, pedestrian detection, lane-departure warning, and adaptive cruise control with lane-keeping assist. The RX also includes standard rear-side airbags, and blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert is available.

The main caveat is that the lane-keeping and adaptive cruise setup can struggle at higher speeds, so you should treat it as a helpful assist system rather than a fully hands-off feature.

Should I buy a 2016 Lexus RX or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 35.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 52.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.3/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• The 2016 brings a redesigned, comfort-focused RX with strong safety and value.

Consider the 2015 if:

• At $17,152, the 2015 costs less than the current year's $22,042 average.
• It emphasizes quiet comfort, practicality, and dependable daily driving.

Consider the 2017 if:

• At $23,577, the 2017 costs more than the current year's $22,042 average.
• It adds broader F Sport availability and standard Safety System + Package inclusion.

The bottom line: Buy the 2016 if you want the redesigned RX’s comfort, safety, and value at a stable market price. If you’re more price-sensitive, the 2015 is the cheaper route; if you want the added equipment and updates, the 2017 is the better upgrade path.

How does the 2016 Lexus RX compare to the 2016 Acura RDX?

Our experts score the 2016 Lexus RX 7.8/10 and the 2016 Acura RDX 7.2/10.

The RX is the stronger pick if you want a more upscale, comfort-first luxury crossover with better expert scoring and a stronger safety emphasis. The RDX is cheaper on the used market and slightly more efficient on the highway, but the RX brings the more polished overall package and a stronger value story for shoppers prioritizing refinement.
