Is the 2016 Kia Soul a good car?

Yes — the 4.6/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. That lines up well with the Soul’s practical, value-focused personality and its usefulness as a small vehicle with a roomy cabin. Is the 2016 Kia Soul reliable?

Owners rate it 4.6/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback highlights a dependable-feeling ownership experience, with praise centered on comfort, gas mileage, and everyday usability. That kind of response suggests the Soul has been trouble-free enough for many drivers to recommend it over the long term. For used buyers, the main ownership risk is less about reputation and more about finding a well-kept example with the features and condition you want.

What should I look for when buying a used 2016 Kia Soul?

At 54.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report so you can separate clean examples from cars with prior damage. After that, put inspection priority on body condition, panel alignment, and signs of repair quality, since those details matter more when accident history is common. It also makes sense to focus on interior wear and cargo-area condition, because the Soul’s value proposition depends heavily on everyday usability.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Kia Soul?

This is a moderate market, so you can be selective without expecting a deep bargain on every listing.

• Deal availability: 30.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,147 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.23% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $8,265, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 Kia Soul's resale value?

The current average of $8,265 sits slightly below last year's $9,006.

That softer pricing can help you buy at a more favorable entry point, but it also means future resale gains may be more limited if the market stays soft. If you plan to sell later, condition and mileage will matter a lot, because buyers will likely compare your car against a large pool of similarly priced listings. Strong owner satisfaction can still help support demand when it is time to move on.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 Kia Soul or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 30.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 54.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.23% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2015 if:

• At $7,845, the 2015 costs less than the current year's $8,265 average.
• It offers strong value with personality and useful upgrades.

Consider the 2017 if:

• At $8,829, the 2017 costs more than the current year's $8,265 average.
• It adds updated looks and an optional turbo engine.

The bottom line: The 2016 is the best all-around pick if you want a balanced mix of price, owner satisfaction, and available inventory. If you are more price-sensitive, the 2015 is the smarter value play; if you want a newer-feeling option and do not mind paying more, the 2017 is worth a look.
