At 55.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether any reported damage was repaired properly. Focus on overall condition first, since the best used example will be the one with clean records and consistent maintenance.

What is the 2016 Kia Soul's resale value?

The current average of $8,323 sits slightly below last year's $8,922.

That softer pricing suggests the market has cooled, which can help you buy more confidently now but may also limit short-term upside if you plan to resell soon. If you keep the car in strong condition and avoid accident history, you should be in a better position to preserve value. Demand should remain supported by the model’s strong owner satisfaction and practical appeal.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.65/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 Kia Soul or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 30.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 55.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.71% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.65/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2015 if:

• At $7,850, the 2015 costs less than the current year's $8,323 average.
• It offers strong value with personality and useful upgrades.

Consider the 2017 if:

• At $8,796, the 2017 costs more than the current year's $8,323 average.
• It adds updated looks and an optional turbocharged engine.

The bottom line: If you want the best balance of price, owner satisfaction, and available inventory, the 2016 is the primary year to target. If your budget is tighter, the 2015 is the better value play; if you want newer styling and can spend more, the 2017 is worth a look.
