How much does the 2016 Hyundai Santa Fe cost?

Prices have softened 11.02% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 400 listings available, which suggests a modest but workable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2016 Hyundai Santa Fe a good car?

Yes — the 5/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. The 2016 Santa Fe stands out as a larger, more polished SUV than Hyundai’s earlier efforts, and it gives you a choice of two-row or three-row configurations. If you want a family-friendly SUV with practical features and a well-equipped cabin for its era, this model year fits that brief well. 29.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2016 Hyundai Santa Fe reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2016 Santa Fe is described as generally safe and well equipped, with a cabin that includes useful everyday features and a broad range of powertrain choices. Its main tradeoff is that the generation is noted for sloppy steering and handling, so you should focus on how the vehicle has aged mechanically and whether wear items have been maintained properly. For used buyers, that means long-term ownership risk is more about condition and upkeep than about the basic appeal of the platform.

What should I look for when buying a used 2016 Hyundai Santa Fe?

At 58.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether any prior damage was repaired properly. Put inspection priority on body alignment, paint consistency, suspension behavior, and signs of uneven wear, since those can reveal past collision or maintenance issues. Because this SUV is often bought for family use, pay close attention to cabin condition, electronics, and how well the vehicle has been cared for overall.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Hyundai Santa Fe?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but should move quickly on the best listings.

• Deal availability: 29.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 400 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.02% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 58.8% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $9,666, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 Hyundai Santa Fe's resale value?

The current average of $10,031 sits slightly below last year's $11,273.

That decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can make the Santa Fe easier to buy now but may also limit near-term appreciation for a future seller. If you plan to resell later, condition and documentation will matter more because buyers will likely compare your vehicle against a fairly broad pool of similarly priced listings. A clean history and strong maintenance record should help you stand out in a market where prices have already softened.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 Hyundai Santa Fe or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 29.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 58.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.02% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2015 if:

• At $9,599, the 2015 costs less than the current year's $10,031 average.
• It offers a practical size and a lively turbocharged driving feel.

The bottom line: If you want the stronger all-around shopping case, the 2016 is the better primary target because it combines a lower current market price, solid owner satisfaction, and decent deal availability. If your main goal is to spend less upfront, the 2015 is the better secondary path, especially if you find one in good condition and can live with its older-market tradeoffs.
