Is the 2016 Hyundai Genesis a good car?

Yes — the 5/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction for this model year. The 2016 Hyundai Genesis is positioned as a luxury sedan that delivers upscale features without the usual premium-brand price tag, and it was designed to compete more seriously with established luxury sedans. You also get a generous equipment list and a strong value proposition if you want understated luxury rather than badge prestige. With 31.0% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still room to shop selectively.

Is the 2016 Hyundai Genesis reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2016 Hyundai Genesis builds on a second-generation platform with a new chassis, updated infotainment, and overhauled suspension, which supports its reputation as a well-rounded luxury sedan. Its standard and available equipment suggest a car that was engineered to feel substantial and well appointed. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is making sure the specific car you choose has been maintained carefully and has a clean history.

What should I look for when buying a used 2016 Hyundai Genesis?

At 51.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should run a vehicle history report before you commit, then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection from a trusted mechanic. Focus on body condition, signs of prior repair, and whether the car’s luxury features and electronics work as intended. Because this model was loaded with equipment, you’ll want to make sure the condition matches the asking price.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Hyundai Genesis?

This looks like a moderate market where selective buyers can still find value if they shop carefully.

• Deal availability: 31.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 252 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 1.89% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 51.2% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $12,506, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 Hyundai Genesis's resale value?

The current average of $13,216 sits slightly below last year's $13,472.

That softer pricing suggests the market has become a bit more favorable for buyers, but it also means future sellers may need to price competitively to stand out. The model's value proposition still leans on its upscale features and strong equipment list, which can help support demand. If you keep the car in clean condition and maintain it well, you should be in a better position when it comes time to sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 Hyundai Genesis or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 31.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 51.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 1.89% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2015 if:

• At $12,281, the 2015 costs less than the current year's $13,216 average.
• It feels more composed and distinctive, with a well-sorted comfort-and-handling balance.

The bottom line: If you want the stronger current-year shopping case, the 2016 is the better primary target because it combines a solid user rating with a softer price trend and decent deal availability. If your priority is spending less upfront, the 2015 is the better secondary path, especially if you find one in excellent condition.
