How much does the 2016 Honda Civic cost?

Prices have softened 1.73% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 2,641 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of cars to compare.

Is the 2016 Honda Civic a good car?

Yes — 4.86/5. The expert rating is 8/10, and the model scores 9/10 across Look and feel and Safety.

Owners consistently praise its smooth drive, reliability, and impressive fuel economy. They also call out its stylish design and high safety ratings, which fits the Civic’s appeal as a compact car that feels more polished and distinctive than the usual small-car formula.

For you, that means this Civic works well if you want a small daily driver that balances thrift with a more upscale feel. 30.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so there are still worthwhile opportunities in the market.

Is the 2016 Honda Civic reliable?

Owners rate it 4.86/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owner feedback repeatedly points to reliability, and the expert summary reinforces thrift and dependability as core strengths. The driving impression also supports that theme, with the car described as composed, efficient, and easy to live with over time.

Honda’s safety and convenience tech package adds to the sense of everyday dependability, especially if you value driver assistance in traffic. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is making sure the specific car you choose has been maintained well and hasn’t been compromised by prior damage or neglect.

What should I look for when buying a used 2016 Honda Civic?

At 46.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has had bodywork or shows uneven panel gaps, paint mismatch, or interior wear that doesn’t fit the mileage. Focus on condition first, because the market includes a large number of cars with prior incidents and you want to separate clean examples from repaired ones.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The top Touring trim adds chrome accents, polished two-tone 17-inch wheels, full LED lighting, and a cleaner, more upscale cabin presentation than lower trims.
• Powertrain: The 2.0-liter four-cylinder is standard on the lower trims, while the turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder brings more power on the higher trims; the CVT is standard on most versions, and the manual is limited to the base LX.
• Safety package: Honda Sensing includes forward-collision alert, auto braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, and adaptive cruise control. It is standard on every sedan trim, while the coupe gets it only on the Touring.
• Infotainment: The system uses an Android-based interface with a customizable display, Garmin navigation, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth streaming, and a 10-speaker stereo.
• Fuel efficiency: The CVT-equipped models are rated at 31 mpg city and 42 highway, while the manual LX gets 27/40.

Which 2016 Honda Civic trim should I buy?

The 2016 Honda Civic is offered in 5 trim levels: LX, EX, EX-T, EX-L, Touring.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the entry point, and it makes sense if you want the lowest-cost Civic with the core formula intact. It gets the standard 2.0-liter engine, and it is the only trim with the manual transmission.
• EX: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds the turbocharged 1.5-liter engine while staying below the luxury-oriented upper trims.
• EX-T: This trim is the right step up if you want the turbo engine and more equipment without jumping all the way to the top of the range.
• EX-L: Choose this if you want a more premium feel and are willing to pay for extra comfort and convenience features.
• Touring: This is the most upscale Civic in the lineup, with the richest feature set, the most polished appearance, and the strongest “near-luxury compact” vibe.

Honda Sensing is standard on every sedan trim, which makes even lower trims appealing from a safety standpoint.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Honda Civic?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory to shop carefully and enough deal activity to find value.

• Deal availability: 30.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,641 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 1.73% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 46.6% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $13,343, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 Honda Civic's resale value?

The current average of $13,846 sits slightly below last year's $14,089.

That tells you the market has eased a bit, which can help you buy more confidently now if you plan to keep the car for a while. For a future seller, the softer pricing means resale upside may be more limited in the short term, so condition and mileage will matter even more when it’s time to trade or sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.86/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2016 Honda Civic safe?

The 2016 Civic sedan earns five-star ratings from NHTSA for frontal crash, side crash, and rollover risk, and the Civic sedan and coupe are Top Safety Pick+ winners from IIHS.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Honda Sensing is the named driver-assistance suite, and it includes forward-collision alert, auto braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, and adaptive cruise control. On the sedan, it is available on every trim, while the coupe gets it only on the Touring.

The safety story is especially strong here because the car combines top crash-test results with a broad set of standard or available driver aids. The main caveat is that the coupe’s access to the safety package is more limited than the sedan’s.

Should I buy a 2016 Honda Civic or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 30.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 46.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 1.73% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.86/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The all-new Civic takes bold chances in elevating small-car fashion, refinement, and build quality, and it succeeds.

Consider the 2015 if:

• At $12,259, the 2015 costs less than the current year's $13,846 average.
• It delivers reliability, safety, fuel efficiency, quality, and value in a straightforward package.

The bottom line: If you want the more polished, better-equipped Civic and can stretch to the current year, the 2016 is the stronger all-around pick. If your priority is spending less up front and you’re comfortable with a simpler, more value-focused compact car, the 2015 is the better budget path.
