How much does the 2016 Honda Civic cost?

Prices have softened 1.58% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 2,590 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of options to compare.

Is the 2016 Honda Civic a good car?

Yes — the 2016 Honda Civic earns a 4.86/5 user rating and an 8/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel and Safety.

Owners consistently praise its smooth drive, reliability, and impressive fuel economy, and they also call out its stylish design and high safety ratings. That lines up well with the Civic’s role as a compact car that aims to feel more polished while still staying efficient and easy to live with. With 31.9% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a decent chance of finding a strong value if you shop carefully.

Is the 2016 Honda Civic reliable?

Owners rate it 4.86/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The user feedback highlights reliability directly, along with a smooth drive and impressive fuel economy, which are all encouraging signs for everyday ownership. The expert summary also emphasizes thrift and dependability, reinforcing the Civic’s reputation as a car you can count on over time. Honda’s maintenance-friendly ownership story is another plus for shoppers who want predictable running costs.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about the Civic’s core durability and more about finding one that has been maintained well and not worn hard.

What should I look for when buying a used 2016 Honda Civic?

At 47.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has had prior body damage. Focus on overall condition, signs of uneven wear, and whether the equipment you want is actually present on the trim you’re considering. Because this model was offered with a wide spread of features, it’s worth confirming that the listing matches the trim level and options advertised.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The sedan lineup ranges from LX to Touring, and the lower trims leave out some of the upscale touches that make this Civic feel more premium. The Touring trim stands out with chrome accents, polished two-tone 17-inch wheels, full LED lighting, and a cleaner, more upscale cabin presentation.
• Powertrain: A 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 158 horsepower is standard on the lower trims, while the upper trims use a turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder with 174 horsepower. The base LX is the only trim with a 6-speed manual; the others use a CVT.
• Safety package: Honda Sensing includes forward-collision alert, auto braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, and adaptive cruise control. It is available on every sedan trim, but on the coupe it is limited to the Touring.
• Infotainment: The system includes an Android-based interface, Garmin navigation, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth streaming, and a customizable digital instrument panel on the Touring.
• Fuel efficiency: CVT-equipped models are rated at 31 mpg city and 42 highway, while the manual LX gets 27/40.

Which 2016 Honda Civic trim should I buy?

The 2016 Honda Civic is offered in 5 trim levels: LX, EX, EX-T, EX-L, Touring.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the entry point and the only trim with a 6-speed manual, so it suits you if you want the simplest, most affordable Civic with a traditional gearbox.
• EX: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it moves you into the turbocharged 1.5-liter engine and a more upscale feature set without jumping all the way to the top.
• EX-T: This trim adds the turbocharged engine and sits in the middle of the lineup, making it a good fit if you want stronger performance than the base car without paying for the most expensive version.
• EX-L: This is the better choice if you want a more premium-feeling Civic and are willing to pay for extra comfort and convenience features.
• Touring: This is the most fully equipped version, with the most upscale appearance and the richest feature content, so it makes sense if you want the nicest Civic in the lineup.

Honda Sensing is available on every sedan trim, which is a major plus if safety tech matters to you.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Honda Civic?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage but still need to move quickly on the right car.

• Deal availability: 31.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,590 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 1.58% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 47.9% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $13,346, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 Honda Civic's resale value?

The current average of $13,803 sits slightly below last year's $14,024.

That tells you the market has softened a bit, which can help you as a buyer now but may temper resale upside if you plan to sell soon. Even so, the Civic’s strong reputation for reliability, fuel economy, and owner satisfaction should help it stay in demand relative to many compact cars. If you keep mileage reasonable and maintenance records organized, you should be in a better position when it’s time to resell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.86/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2016 Honda Civic safe?

The 2016 Civic sedan earns five-star ratings from NHTSA for frontal crash, side crash, and rollover risk, and the Civic sedan and coupe were named a Top Safety Pick+ by IIHS.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Honda Sensing includes forward-collision alert, auto braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, and adaptive cruise control. On the sedan, you can get that package on every trim, while on the coupe it is limited to the Touring. The backup camera also offers three views, including a top view and an extra-wide shot.

Should I buy a 2016 Honda Civic or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 31.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 47.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 1.58% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.86/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The all-new redesign brings a more refined feel, stronger build quality, and a more upscale cabin than the previous year.

Consider the 2015 if:

• At $12,290, the 2015 costs less than the current year's $13,803 average.
• It delivers reliability, safety, fuel efficiency, quality, and value with unusual ease.

The bottom line: If you want the more polished and better-equipped Civic, the 2016 is the stronger pick. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2015 is the better value play, especially if you can live with its older-feeling feature set.
