CarGurus Analysis: 2016 Ford Fusion

Summary
With 1,562 currently listed for sale and an average price of $8,902, 26.6% of 2016 Ford Fusions for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2016 Ford Fusion 4.1 / 5 stars.
57.9% of 2016 Fusion models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2016 Ford Fusion stands out as a midsize sedan that blends sharp styling, strong road manners, and a roomy cabin. Ford’s second-generation Fusion was overhauled for the 2013 model year, and by 2016 it still offered the qualities that made the car appealing in the first place: capable handling, plenty of space, and a broad range of powertrains. Buyers could choose from gas engines, hybrid versions, and available all-wheel drive, giving the Fusion a flexibility that many rivals did not match.
For 2016, the Fusion also benefited from the broader improvements Ford made during the generation. The car had a decent reliability record, and the gas models were described as the most trouble-free. The 1.5-liter EcoBoost was noted as the best-economy gas engine, returning up to 27 mpg combined, while the cabin offered 38.3 inches of rear legroom and a 16 cubic-foot trunk. Owners also tended to value the smooth ride, comfort, and generous standard equipment, though some shoppers may find the car less deluxe than its price suggests and may want to keep an eye on acceleration in certain models.

Nice features. But, the vehicle lacked acceleration power. It seemed to run sluggish.

Just unhappy with the malfunctioning rearview camera on our 2016 Ford fusion titanium.. Sounds like there should be a recall for our year of 2016 and others for the Ford fusion.

Generally — the 4.1/5 user rating points to a well-liked used sedan. Owners commonly praise the smooth ride, comfort, and reliability, and they also highlight the roomy interior and useful standard equipment.
That lines up well if you want a midsize sedan that feels polished without pushing into luxury-car pricing. It is especially appealing if you value balanced everyday driving, a spacious cabin, and a broad range of features.
With 27.8% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have room to shop selectively.
Is the 2016 Ford Fusion reliable?
Owners rate it 4.1/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.
The review summary also points to reliability as one of the model’s strengths, alongside comfort and a smooth ride. Drivers who mention dependable day-to-day use tend to pair that praise with appreciation for the car’s practical interior and standard features.
For used buyers, that suggests the bigger risk is less about the model’s reputation and more about how well a specific example has been maintained over time.
What should I look for when buying a used 2016 Ford Fusion?
At 58.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should run a vehicle history report before you commit, then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection on any car that looks especially promising. Focus on body condition, signs of prior repair, and whether the features you care about work properly.
Because some owners have mentioned rearview camera issues and minor design flaws, it is smart to test the electronics and inspect the cabin closely.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Ford Fusion?

- Price trend: Prices have softened 6.03% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 58.5% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $8,852.77, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2016 Ford Fusion's resale value?
The current average of $8,950 sits slightly below last year's $9,524.
That softer pricing suggests the model has become more accessible for buyers, which can help keep demand steady in the used market. For a future seller, that means resale value will likely depend heavily on condition, mileage, and how well the car has been maintained.
Because shoppers still respond well to the Fusion’s comfort, space, and overall balance, a clean example should remain easier to market than one with visible wear or unresolved issues.
Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.1/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2016 Ford Fusion or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2016 if:
- 27.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 58.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 6.03% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.1/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
Consider the 2015 if:
- At $8,502, the 2015 costs less than the current year's $8,950 average.
- It offers a stylish, well-rounded package with broad appeal.
The bottom line: If you want the better-balanced shopping target, the 2016 is the stronger primary choice because pricing has eased and buyer interest remains healthy. If your top priority is spending less upfront, the 2015 is the better secondary path, especially if you find one in clean condition and with a strong service history.
