How much does the 2016 Ford Edge cost?

Prices have softened 7.69% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,562 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of options to compare.

Is the 2016 Ford Edge a good car?

Generally — you’re looking at a 4.45/5 user rating and an 8.5/10 expert rating, which points to broad appeal for shoppers who want a family-friendly crossover with a more athletic personality. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel, Form and function, Cost effectiveness, and Technology.

Owners repeatedly praise the comfortable ride, spacious interior, smooth handling, and well-equipped feel. The overview also frames it as a practical midsize crossover with stronger performance than a typical utility vehicle, which helps explain why it resonates with buyers who want usefulness without giving up driving enjoyment.

With 33.0% of listings marked as good or great deals, the market still gives you room to find a compelling example.

Is the 2016 Ford Edge reliable?

Owners rate it 4.45/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a vehicle that feels comfortable, dependable, and easy to live with over time, especially if you value a smooth ride and a roomy cabin. The expert notes also emphasize strong noise isolation and a well-sorted driving experience, which supports the impression of a crossover you can count on day to day.

Ford’s test-drive notes also suggest the Edge Sport is built to handle regular use with confidence, and the available maintenance perk helps reduce early ownership friction. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that minor electronic glitches and wear-related issues can become more noticeable as mileage climbs.

What should I look for when buying a used 2016 Ford Edge?

At 67.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the listing price looks unusually attractive. Focus on body condition, repair quality, and signs of prior collision work, since accident history can matter more than cosmetic presentation on a used crossover.

Pay close attention to how the vehicle drives, how the electronics behave, and whether the cabin shows signs of heavy wear. If you’re shopping the Sport version, also make sure the performance hardware and tires are in good shape, since those items can be costly to replace.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Edge lineup starts with the SE, which is front-wheel drive with a turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder and few options, while the SEL and Titanium add more equipment and are available with a 3.5-liter V6. The Sport sits at the top with standard all-wheel drive, a twin-turbocharged V6, adaptive steering, and 21-inch wheels, so the feature gap versus the lower trims is substantial.
• Powertrain: The Sport uses a twin-turbocharged 2.7-liter V6 with 315 horsepower and 350 lb-ft of torque, paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission. Ford says the engine delivers strong acceleration and good noise isolation, and the Sport’s standard all-wheel drive helps round out its performance-focused setup.
• Safety package: The Edge includes 911 Assist and MyKey, and available driver-assistance tech can include forward camera, semi-autonomous parking, forward-collision warning, and lane-keeping assist. The Sport test vehicle still lacked automatic emergency braking, so that’s an important gap to keep in mind.
• Infotainment: Ford’s Sync 3 system brings a capacitive touch display, faster response, improved voice recognition, smartphone projection for Apple and Android devices, and Wi-Fi software updates. It also includes dual USB ports, an SD card drive, and an auxiliary input jack.
• Fuel efficiency: The test vehicle returned 19.7 mpg over a week, and the official combined estimate was 20 mpg.

Which 2016 Ford Edge trim should I buy?

The 2016 Ford Edge is offered in 4 trim levels: SE, SEL, Titanium, Sport.

Here's the short version:

• SE: This is the value-oriented starting point, with front-wheel drive, a turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder, and relatively few options. It makes sense if you want the Edge’s size and practicality without paying for the performance or luxury upgrades.
• SEL: This trim adds more equipment and can be had with the 3.5-liter V6, making it a better fit if you want a more upscale everyday driver without jumping all the way to the top of the range.
• Titanium: This is the more premium-feeling choice in the mainstream lineup, and it’s the trim to consider if you want extra features and a richer cabin without the Sport’s higher running costs.
• Sport: This is the enthusiast pick, with the twin-turbo V6, standard all-wheel drive, adaptive steering, and 21-inch wheels. It’s the best fit if you care most about performance and are willing to accept higher tire and ownership costs.

The safety content also notes that the Edge lacks automatic emergency braking, so that’s worth weighing no matter which trim you choose.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Ford Edge?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory and deal activity to make comparison shopping worthwhile.

• Deal availability: 33.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,562 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.69% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 67.5% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $10,985, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 Ford Edge's resale value?

The current average of $10,985 sits slightly below last year's $11,899.

That price movement suggests the model has softened enough to help you buy in at a more favorable point, but it also means future sellers may face some pressure if the market stays soft. If you buy well and keep the vehicle in strong condition, you’ll be better positioned to protect value later.

The Edge’s broad appeal, roomy cabin, and strong owner satisfaction should help support demand among used shoppers. Well-kept examples with clean history and desirable equipment are likely to hold up better than higher-mileage or poorly maintained ones.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.45/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2016 Ford Edge safe?

The 2016 Ford Edge earns an Acceptable IIHS result in the small overlap frontal crash test and five-star ratings in all NHTSA assessments, plus a four-star rollover resistance rating.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

The Edge includes 911 Assist and MyKey as standard equipment, and available driver-assistance features can include forward camera, semi-autonomous parking, forward-collision warning, and lane-keeping assist. Brake Support is also part of the setup, but it is not the same as automatic emergency braking.

A key caveat is that the Edge Sport test vehicle lacked automatic emergency braking, and the IIHS small overlap result is a notable weak point for a vehicle of this era. That makes careful feature checking and condition review especially important if safety is a top priority.

Should I buy a 2016 Ford Edge or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 33.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 67.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.69% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.45/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• Ford’s 2016 update brings Sync 3, standard all-wheel drive on the Sport, and a stronger performance focus.

Consider the 2017 if:

• At $12,092, the 2017 costs more than the current year's $10,985 average.
• It emphasizes a more family-first layout with ample cargo room and storage cubbies.

The bottom line: If you want the better value today, the 2016 is the stronger buy because it combines softer pricing with solid owner satisfaction and a well-equipped feel. If you’re willing to spend more for a newer model-year perspective and a more family-focused presentation, the 2017 is the cleaner alternative.
