How much does the 2016 Ford Edge cost?

Prices have softened 9.62% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,557 listings available, which suggests you have a meaningful amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2016 Ford Edge a good car?

Yes — you rate it 4.5/5, and the expert rating is 8.5/10. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel, Form and function, Cost effectiveness, and Technology.

Owners consistently praise the comfortable ride, spacious interior, smooth handling, and well-equipped feel. The Edge also fits buyers who want a family-friendly crossover with a more ambitious, performance-minded personality, while still keeping everyday practicality front and center. Good and great deals account for 31.3% of listings, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2016 Ford Edge reliable?

Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a vehicle that feels dependable in daily use, with comfort and features that keep owners happy over time. The expert notes also emphasize that Ford has done an excellent job isolating noise, vibration, and harshness, which supports a more composed ownership experience. Ford’s maintenance perk language is not included in the available data, so your best protection as a used buyer is to verify service history and focus on how well the vehicle has been maintained.

What should I look for when buying a used 2016 Ford Edge?

At 67.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection. Pay close attention to body condition, braking feel, electronic behavior, and any signs that the vehicle has been repaired after a collision. Because some listings have prior incidents, condition and documentation matter more than usual.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Edge Sport stands out with standard all-wheel drive, a twin-turbocharged V6, adaptive steering, and 21-inch wheels, while the broader lineup includes SE, SEL, and Titanium versions with different equipment levels.
• Powertrain: The Sport uses a twin-turbocharged 2.7-liter V6 with 315 horsepower and a 6-speed automatic transmission, and it is tuned for stronger acceleration and more engaging driving.
• Safety package: Ford’s safety suite includes 911 Assist, MyKey, forward-collision warning, lane-keeping assist, semi-autonomous parking, and a forward camera, but automatic emergency braking is not included.
• Infotainment: Sync 3 brings a capacitive touchscreen, faster response, improved voice recognition, smartphone projection for Apple and Android devices, and Wi-Fi software updates.
• Fuel efficiency: The test vehicle returned 19.7 mpg over a week, and the official combined estimate is 20 mpg.

Which 2016 Ford Edge trim should I buy?

The 2016 Ford Edge is offered in 4 trim levels: SE, SEL, Titanium, Sport.

Here's the short version:

• SE: This is the entry point if you want the Edge’s core size and utility at the lowest price, but it is the most basic way into the lineup.
• SEL: This is the trim to focus on if you want a better balance of equipment and value without jumping all the way to the top.
• Titanium: Choose this if you want a more upscale feel and more features than the lower trims.
• Sport: This is the one to buy if you want the strongest performance, standard all-wheel drive, and the most distinctive driving character.

The Sport is the standout for buyers who want the Edge’s most ambitious personality, but the SEL is likely the best-value choice for shoppers who care more about everyday comfort and features than maximum performance.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Ford Edge?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 31.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,557 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.62% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 67.1% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $10,670, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 Ford Edge's resale value?

The current average of $10,673 sits slightly below last year's $11,809.

That price movement suggests the Edge has softened enough to create a more buyer-friendly market today, but it also means future sellers may need to price competitively to stand out. If you buy well now and keep the vehicle in strong condition, you may be better positioned than someone who pays closer to the upper end of the range. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2016 Ford Edge safe?

The 2016 Ford Edge earns an Acceptable rating in the IIHS small overlap frontal crash test and five-star ratings in all NHTSA assessments, plus a four-star rollover resistance rating.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Ford’s safety suite includes 911 Assist, MyKey programmable features, forward-collision warning, lane-keeping assist, semi-autonomous parking, and a forward camera. The available system also includes Brake Support, but automatic emergency braking is not part of the package. The expert notes also flag the IIHS result and the lack of automatic emergency braking as meaningful shortcomings to keep in mind.

Should I buy a 2016 Ford Edge or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 31.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 67.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.62% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2016 brings Sync 3, standard all-wheel drive on the Sport, and a stronger performance focus.

Consider the 2017 if:

• At $11,921, the 2017 costs more than the current year's $10,673 average.
• It emphasizes a roomier, family-first layout with ample cargo space and storage cubbies.

The bottom line: If you want the better value today, the 2016 is the stronger buy because prices are lower and deal availability is solid. If your priority is a more family-focused crossover and you are willing to pay more, the 2017 is the cleaner alternative.
