CarGurus Analysis: 2019 Ford Edge
overall

Summary
With 170 currently listed for sale near Fort Worth, TX and an average price of $14,641, 27.1% of 2019 Ford Edges for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2019 Ford Edge 4.77 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it a 7.33 / 10.
81.8% of 2019 Edge models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2019 Ford Edge stands out as a midsize, two-row SUV that helped define the family-crossover formula. Ford also offers it with an ST trim, adding performance to the Edge’s practical foundation. That combination gives the 2019 Edge a broader appeal than a typical family hauler, since it aims to balance everyday usefulness with a more energetic driving character.
Even so, the Edge feels dated in some respects. Its strongest advantages are the backseat legroom and cargo space buyers need, which make it especially appealing for families and long trips. Owner feedback also points to comfort, features, and strong power as positives, reinforcing the Edge’s role as a roomy and capable choice. At the same time, some reviewers mention sluggish acceleration and missing features such as automatic side mirrors, so the 2019 Edge is best viewed as a practical SUV with a few clear compromises.

Excellent driver, exceptional roominess front AND rear seat. Tons more space behind the second row than my Lincoln MKC (my trade in). I’m blown away that this Ford Edge is more quiet and rides better than the smaller MKC. Disappointments are no power lift gate, no garage door opener feature. Very comfortable leather seats, and the SEL comes standard with many safety features. So far very satisfied.

How much does the 2019 Ford Edge cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $15,406 |
| Year-Round Low | $15,306.42 |
| Year-Round High | $16,863.20 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $16,865 |
| Change vs. Last Year | −8.65% |
Prices have softened 8.65% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.
There are 2,782 listings available, which suggests you have room to compare options before you buy.
If you find a listing below $15,306.42, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
Is the 2019 Ford Edge a good car?
Yes — the 2019 Ford Edge earns a 4.77/5 user rating and a 7.33/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Safety at 9/10.
Owners consistently praise its performance, comfort, and features, and they also call out the spacious interior and strong power. That lines up with the Edge’s practical two-row layout and family-friendly cargo and backseat space, even if the design feels dated in places.
The market also shows 31.0% good or great deals, which gives you a decent chance to find a well-priced example.
Is the 2019 Ford Edge reliable?
Owners rate it 4.77/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The owner feedback points to a vehicle that feels dependable in daily use, with repeated praise for performance, comfort, and features. The expert notes also support that impression, describing the turbocharged four-cylinder as an engine that “gets the job done and won’t let you down,” while the ST’s powertrain is presented as strong and confidence-inspiring.
Ford also includes a broad set of standard safety and driver-assistance features, which can help reduce ownership stress over time. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that a dated cabin and uneven feature content may matter more as mileage and age add up.
What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Ford Edge?
Accident-free inventory is solid at 75.8% — always verify the vehicle history report.
You should still check the history report carefully, because accident-free status is only a starting point. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on the condition of the cabin, electronics, and any optional equipment, since the Edge’s value depends heavily on how well it was maintained and equipped. It also helps to compare trims closely, because the feature spread is wide.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The base SE comes with 18-inch alloy wheels, keyless entry, push-button start, and rain-sensing wipers, while the SEL adds black roof rails, dual-zone climate control, power-adjustable front seats, rear parking sensors, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. The Titanium adds 19-inch alloy wheels and standard leather upholstery, wireless charging, remote start, and a premium sound system, while the ST adds blacked-out styling, 20-inch wheels, an upgraded exhaust, leather seating, and ambient lighting.
- Powertrain: Non-ST trims use a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with 250 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque, paired with an 8-speed automatic and available AWD. The ST uses a 2.7-liter turbocharged V6 with 335 hp and 380 lb-ft of torque, also paired with an 8-speed automatic and AWD only.
- Safety package: Ford Co-Pilot360 is standard and includes automatic emergency braking, forward-collision warning, lane-departure warning, automatic high-beams, and blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert. Co-Pilot360 Assist+ is available above the SE and adds adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, evasive steering assist, and lane-centering.
- Infotainment: The base system uses a 4.2-inch non-touchscreen with USB, WiFi hotspot, streaming music, Bluetooth, and voice recognition. An 8-inch Sync 3 system is available on the SEL and standard on the Titanium and ST, with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Amazon Alexa integration.
- Fuel efficiency: The base 2.0-liter with front-wheel drive returns 22 mpg city, 29 highway, and 25 combined. The ST returns 19/26/21.
Which 2019 Ford Edge trim should I buy?
The 2019 Ford Edge is offered in 4 trim levels: SE, SEL, Titanium, and ST.
Here's the short version:
- SE: This is the entry point, but it feels the most stripped down because the base infotainment setup is a small 4.2-inch non-touchscreen. It makes sense only if you want the lowest price and can live without the nicer tech and comfort upgrades.
- SEL: This is the best-value trim because it adds the features most shoppers will notice every day, including dual-zone climate control, power-adjustable front seats, rear parking sensors, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. It also unlocks useful packages that bring leather, heated seats, remote start, a hands-free liftgate, and the better 8-inch Sync 3 system.
- Titanium: This is the right pick if you want a more upscale feel, since it makes leather upholstery, wireless charging, remote start, and the premium sound system standard. It’s the most comfort-focused choice short of the ST.
- ST: This is the performance choice, with the stronger V6, AWD only, sportier styling, and a more aggressive driving character. It suits you best if you want the Edge’s space and utility but also want real acceleration and sharper road manners.
Ford’s Co-Pilot360 suite is standard, and Co-Pilot360 Assist+ is available above the SE.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Ford Edge?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but still move quickly on the right listing.
- Deal availability: 31.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 2,782 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 8.65% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 75.8% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $15,306.42, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2019 Ford Edge's resale value?
The current average of $15,406 sits slightly below last year's $16,865.
That softer pricing suggests the Edge has already absorbed some of its depreciation, which can help future sellers if they buy at the right number. A lower entry price today can reduce the amount of value left to lose over the next few years.
The model’s broad appeal also matters: buyers tend to respond well to its space, comfort, and available performance, which can support demand later. Well-equipped trims and clean history examples should hold up better than bare-bones versions with dated tech.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.77/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2019 Ford Edge safe?
The 2019 Ford Edge earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.
It comes standard with Ford Co-Pilot360, which includes automatic emergency braking, forward-collision warning, lane-departure warning, automatic high-beams, and blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert. It also includes a reversing camera, traction control, and a full complement of front- and side-impact airbags.
Above the SE, you can add Co-Pilot360 Assist+ for adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, evasive steering assist, and lane-centering. That makes the Edge a strong safety pick if you want more driver assistance than the base trim provides.
Is the 2019 Ford Edge a good car?
Yes — the 2019 Ford Edge earns a 4.77/5 user rating and a 7.33/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Safety at 9/10.

Should I buy a 2019 Ford Edge or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2019 if:
- 31.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Accident-free inventory is solid at 75.8% — always verify the vehicle history report.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 8.65% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.77/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- The 2019 brings a facelift, a broader trim lineup, and the ST performance variant.
Consider the 2020 if:
- At $16,949, the 2020 costs more than the current year's $15,406 average.
- It keeps the Edge relevant with updated infotainment and safety tech.
The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2019 is the smarter buy because it combines a lower average price with strong owner satisfaction and solid safety. If you’re willing to pay more for a newer model year, the 2020 is the cleaner alternative, but price-sensitive shoppers should focus on the 2019 and target a well-kept SEL or better.
