Used 2016 Chevrolet Volt for Sale nearAtlanta, GA

Is the 2016 Chevrolet Volt a good car?

Yes — the 2016 Chevrolet Volt earns a 5/5 user rating and an 8/10 expert rating. The model scores 10/10 across Performance and Technology.

The Volt stands out because it turns a common compromise into its main strength: you get electric driving for most everyday use, plus gasoline backup that removes range anxiety on longer trips. CarGurus’ test-drive summary describes that tradeoff as brilliant, and the overview frames the Volt as a strong fit if you want much of the everyday feel of an electric car without the worry of running out of charge.

That makes it especially appealing if you value practical peace of mind over chasing the best efficiency numbers in every category. 39.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2016 Chevrolet Volt reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The overview says the Volt’s special powertrain is designed to deliver electric driving most of the time while still preserving flexibility for longer trips, and the expert summary says that compromise is handled well. The cost-effectiveness commentary also says the Volt is expected to prove reliable over time.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is making sure the battery-and-generator system has been maintained properly, since that unusual setup is the heart of the car’s value.

What should I look for when buying a used 2016 Chevrolet Volt?

At 71% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage example or one with a complex option package. Focus on overall condition, signs of prior body repair, and whether the car’s charging and range-extending systems behave as expected.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The LT and Premier trims differ meaningfully. Premier adds leather upholstery, heated front and rear seats, heated side mirrors, a heated steering wheel, a Bose premium sound system, wireless device charging, automatic parking assist for parallel and perpendicular spaces, and machined-finish aluminum wheels.
• Powertrain: The Volt uses a 1.5-liter 4-cylinder gasoline engine with a two-motor electric drive unit and an 18.4-kWh lithium-ion battery. The electric drive unit makes 149 horsepower and 294 lb-ft of torque, and the car can travel up to a claimed 53 miles on a single charge.
• Safety package: Two Driver Confidence option packages are offered. One adds blind-spot warning, lane-change alert, and rear cross-traffic alert; the other adds forward-collision warning with low-speed automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, and automatic high-beam headlights. Some of these features are optional rather than standard.
• Infotainment: Standard equipment includes Chevrolet MyLink with faster response, upgraded graphics, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. The car also includes displays that show power-flow and efficiency information, and OnStar services are available through MyLink.
• Fuel efficiency: The Volt is expected to return 42 mpg when using the gasoline generator, and the test-drive data reports 106.4 MPGe in Normal mode.

Which 2016 Chevrolet Volt trim should I buy?

The 2016 Chevrolet Volt is offered in 2 trim levels: LT and Premier.

Here's the short version:

• LT: This is the trim to target if you want the Volt’s core strengths at the lowest entry point. You still get the car’s standout powertrain, MyLink with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and the efficiency-focused driving experience that defines the model.
• Premier: This is the better choice if you want the more upscale and convenience-heavy version. It adds leather upholstery, heated front and rear seats, a heated steering wheel, wireless device charging, automatic parking assist, and the Bose premium sound system. If you want the best-value trim, this is the one to compare carefully against the LT because the added comfort and convenience features are substantial.

The safety content notes that two Driver Confidence option packages are available, so you’ll want to check whether a used example has those features equipped.

Is the 2016 Chevrolet Volt safe?

The 2016 Volt has not been subjected to crash testing in the review data, so there isn’t a crash-test rating to cite here.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Two Driver Confidence option packages are offered. One includes blind-spot warning with lane-change alert and rear cross-traffic alert, while the other adds forward-collision warning with low-speed automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, and automatic high-beam headlights. The test-drive notes say the forward-collision warning can occasionally issue false alerts, and the lane-departure warning and lane-keeping assist can feel artificial enough that they may be switched off.

Should I buy a 2016 Chevrolet Volt or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 39.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 71% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2016 Volt’s standout advantage is its redesigned second-generation setup, which gives you electric driving for most daily use while preserving gasoline backup for longer trips.

The bottom line: If you want the strongest blend of electric driving and long-trip flexibility, the 2016 is the right target year. If you’re more price-sensitive, you can still shop nearby years, but the 2016’s redesigned powertrain and strong expert score make it the better all-around pick.
