How much does the 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD cost?

Prices have softened 7.49% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 489 listings available, which gives you a meaningful pool to compare prices and configurations.

Is the 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD a good car?

The 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD stands out as a heavy-duty truck that blends serious capability with a more modern, usable feel than earlier versions. Chevrolet gave it its own styling, separate from the Silverado 1500, and improved the ride and handling enough that it was described as a cut above other large trucks.

For you, that means this truck makes the most sense if you want a durable workhorse with strong towing ability, a comfortable interior, and enough technology to feel current. It also offered a broad range of body styles and powertrains, including a 6.0-liter gas V8 and the 6.6-liter Duramax diesel, so you can shop for the setup that best fits your needs.

With 30.3% of listings marked as good or great deals, the market gives you some room to find a strong-value example if you shop carefully.

Is the 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD reliable?

The 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD is generally described as good when it has been maintained properly. That matters because this truck was built for hard use, and its heavy-duty mission means condition and service history carry extra weight.

For you, the key takeaway is that reliability can be solid, but used examples deserve careful scrutiny because these trucks often lead demanding lives. A well-kept truck is the safer long-term bet, while a neglected one can bring higher ownership risk.

What should I look for when buying a used 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD?

At 69.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a full vehicle history report and confirm whether any prior damage was repaired properly. Then prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially on the drivetrain, suspension, brakes, and towing-related components that may have seen heavy use.

Focus on overall condition rather than just mileage, since a hard-working truck can wear faster than the odometer suggests. If possible, look for signs of consistent maintenance and evidence that the truck was used responsibly rather than pushed to its limits.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you have some leverage if you’re patient and compare listings carefully.

• Deal availability: 30.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 489 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.49% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 69.7% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $32,330, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD's resale value?

The current average of $32,346 sits slightly below last year's $34,965.

That tells you the market has moved down enough to improve your buying position today, but it also means future resale may depend heavily on how well you preserve the truck. If you buy a clean, well-maintained example, you’ll be in a better position to protect value later.

For a future seller, the biggest advantage will be condition, documentation, and configuration. Heavy-duty trucks can hold value well when they’re cared for, but a rough history or visible wear can narrow your buyer pool quickly.

Should I buy a 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 30.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 69.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.49% compared with last year.

The bottom line: The 2016 is a strong choice if you want a heavy-duty truck with modernized usability and a market that currently favors careful shoppers. If your priority is the best possible value, you should focus on the cleanest, best-documented truck you can find rather than chasing the newest badge alone. If you’re especially price-sensitive, a nearby year may be worth comparing, but the 2016 remains a sensible target when condition and deal quality line up.
