Is the 2016 Chevrolet Equinox a good car?

Yes — the 2016 Chevrolet Equinox earns a 4.5/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners repeatedly praise the spacious interior, comfort, and useful features like remote start and the backup camera. It also fits well if you want a practical compact SUV with everyday utility and a roomy cabin. With 29.8% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2016 Chevrolet Equinox reliable?

Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback also highlights dependable everyday use, with owners describing the Equinox as comfortable and confidence-inspiring in tough conditions. That said, used buyers should still think carefully about long-term ownership risk because this model year sits within a generation known for serious engine problems.

What should I look for when buying a used 2016 Chevrolet Equinox?

At 62.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether any reported damage was repaired properly. Put inspection priority on body condition, panel alignment, and signs of prior collision work. It also makes sense to focus on overall mechanical condition, especially if you want to reduce the risk of buying a vehicle with hidden issues.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Chevrolet Equinox?

This looks like a moderate market where selective buyers can still find value if they shop carefully.

• Deal availability: 29.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,256 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.32% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 62.5% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $9,290, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 Chevrolet Equinox's resale value?

The current average of $9,290 sits slightly below last year's $10,025.

That softer pricing suggests the model has already moved down from its prior level, which can help future buyers but may limit upside for sellers. If you own one and plan to sell later, condition and maintenance history will matter more because the market is already pricing in some depreciation. Strong presentation and a clean history can help you stand out in a crowded used market.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 Chevrolet Equinox or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 29.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 62.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.32% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2015 if:

• At $8,068, the 2015 costs less than the current year's $9,290 average.
• It offers straightforward versatility and a practical, tried-and-true family-crossover approach.

The bottom line: If you want the stronger current-market balance of price, inventory, and owner satisfaction, the 2016 is the better starting point. If your priority is spending less upfront, the 2015 is the more budget-friendly alternative.
