CarGurus Analysis: 2016 Chevrolet Corvette
overall

Summary
With 249 currently listed for sale near Fort Worth, TX and an average price of $55,338.00, 27.3% of 2016 Chevrolet Corvettes for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2016 Chevrolet Corvette 4.94 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it an 8.5 / 10.
77.9% of 2016 Corvette models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2016 Chevrolet Corvette stands out as a distinctly American sports car with a blend of futuristic and nostalgic styling, a significantly updated interior, and performance that makes it feel far more expensive than it is. It is presented as the kind of car buyers may wish they had bought while they still could, which speaks to its special-place appeal as much as to its capability.
What makes the 2016 Corvette especially compelling is how much performance it delivers when properly equipped. With optional cooling, adaptive suspension, and bigger brakes, it can seriously play with cars that cost three times as much. That said, the emphasis here is clearly on driving excitement and visual drama, so buyers looking for the Corvette’s strengths will find them in its speed, handling hardware, and attention-grabbing design rather than in a long list of luxury extras.

The C7 is a dramatic improvement over the C6. The interior is much more refined. The handling and acceleration are also much better. Ive owned a C5 and C6, they simply dont compare.

| Year-Round High | $57,929.13 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $57,472 |

If you find a listing below $54,082.66, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
Is the 2016 Chevrolet Corvette a good car?
Yes — 4.94/5 owners rate it, and the expert rating is 8.5/10. The standout strength is Performance at 10/10.
Owners consistently praise its exceptional performance, strong value for money, and sleek design. The updated interior also comes through as a recurring plus, which matters if you want a sports car that feels more modern inside. For you, that means the Corvette fits best if you want a dramatic, driver-focused car that prioritizes speed and style over everyday luxury extras.
The market also looks supportive, with 26.9% of listings marked as good or great deals.
Is the 2016 Chevrolet Corvette reliable?
Owners rate it 4.94/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The owner feedback points to a car that feels exceptional and worth the money, with recurring praise for performance and design that suggests buyers tend to feel good about living with it over time. The expert notes also emphasize that the Corvette delivers serious capability without feeling out of place in daily use, which supports the idea that it can be a dependable enthusiast choice when maintained properly. The basic OnStar system is free for new buyers for 5 years, which adds some ownership convenience early on.
For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about the car’s appeal and more about how hard it may have been driven and how carefully it was maintained.
What should I look for when buying a used 2016 Chevrolet Corvette?
Accident-free inventory is solid at 76% — always verify the vehicle history report.
You should still run a history report on any car you’re considering, because a clean listing percentage does not replace a documented record. A pre-purchase inspection matters here, especially if the car has been driven hard or modified. Pay close attention to condition items that can reveal how the car was used, including interior wear, brake condition, and signs of neglect.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The 1LT, 2LT, and 3LT packages differ mainly in comfort and convenience equipment. The base 1LT still delivers the core Corvette experience, while 2LT adds heated and ventilated seats, curb-view cameras, Bose audio, and a heads-up display. The 3LT adds leather surfaces everywhere, Napa leather seating, navigation, and the Performance Data Recorder, so it suits you best if you want the most complete cabin.
- Powertrain: You get a 6.2-liter pushrod V8 with 455 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque. The car can reach 60 mph in under 4 seconds, and the engine’s torque band makes it easy to drive without constantly revving it hard. The 7-speed manual is crisp, while the 8-speed automatic is well suited to keeping the car in its sweet spot.
- Safety package: The Corvette comes standard with 4 airbags, including side-impact airbags, plus a protective cell, four-wheel antilock brakes, automatic seat-belt pretensioners, and mandatory electronic stability control. Higher trims add front- and rear-facing cameras to help with parking and backing out.
- Infotainment: Dual 8-inch screens anchor the cabin, and Chevrolet MyLink includes phone, audio, and navigation when equipped. Apple CarPlay is included this year, with Android Auto to follow later. OnStar is also built in, with basic services included for 5 years.
- Fuel efficiency: The engine uses direct injection and cylinder deactivation to help with efficiency, and the tall 7th gear is designed for highway cruising. It also requires premium fuel.
Which 2016 Chevrolet Corvette trim should I buy?
The 2016 Chevrolet Corvette is offered in 3 trim levels: 1LT, 2LT, 3LT.
Here's the short version:
- 1LT: This is the entry point, but it still gives you the core Corvette formula: the V8, the sharp styling, and the performance hardware that makes the car special. Choose it if you care most about driving experience and want to keep the purchase price closer to the lower end.
- 2LT: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds heated and ventilated seats, curb-view cameras, Bose audio, and a heads-up display. If you want a more comfortable and easier-to-live-with Corvette without jumping all the way to the top trim, this is the sweet spot.
- 3LT: This is the most fully equipped version, with leather surfaces everywhere, Napa leather seating, navigation, and the Performance Data Recorder. Buy this if you want the most upscale cabin and the most complete feature set.
Higher trims also bring front- and rear-facing cameras, which can help with parking and backing out.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Chevrolet Corvette?
This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you have room to shop carefully without expecting a deep bargain on every listing.
- Deal availability: 26.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 994 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 1.13% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 76.0% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $54,082.66, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2016 Chevrolet Corvette's resale value?
The current average of $56,824 sits slightly below last year's $57,472.
That kind of price movement suggests the market has eased a bit, which can help you buy with less pressure today. For a future seller, it also means resale value will likely depend heavily on condition, mileage, and how well the car has been cared for. A clean, well-kept Corvette should still attract attention because it remains a desirable performance car with strong enthusiast appeal.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.94/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2016 Chevrolet Corvette safe?
It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.
The Corvette has not been rated by either NHTSA or IIHS, so there are no crash-test results to lean on here. Standard equipment includes 4 airbags, side-impact airbags, a protective cell, four-wheel antilock brakes, automatic seat-belt pretensioners, and mandatory electronic stability control. Higher trims add front- and rear-facing cameras to help with parking and backing out.
The main caveat is visibility: the low-slung body and small windows limit outward sightlines, so you should expect to rely on the cameras and your own caution in tight spaces.
Should I buy a 2016 Chevrolet Corvette or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2016 if:
- 26.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Accident-free inventory is solid at 76% — always verify the vehicle history report.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 1.13% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.94/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- The updated interior, standard Apple CarPlay, and the year’s broader equipment mix make it a compelling version of the C7 Corvette.
The bottom line: If you want a Corvette that blends standout performance with a more modern cabin, the 2016 is the right target year. If you’re shopping mainly on price, you can still find value here, but you should compare condition carefully and be ready to move quickly on the best listings.
