CarGurus Analysis: 2016 Chevrolet Camaro
overall

Summary
With 187 currently listed for sale near Indianapolis, IN and an average price of $18,816, 22.5% of 2016 Chevrolet Camaros for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro 4.38 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it a 7.33 / 10.
66.8% of 2016 Camaro models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2016 Chevrolet Camaro stands out because it is a completely redesigned car that brings updated looks, a better interior, and the latest infotainment tech. It also rides on a platform shared with the Cadillac CTS and ATS, which gives it a new level of refinement. For buyers drawn to the Camaro’s place in American car culture, that combination of fresh design and modernized hardware makes this version feel like a new chapter rather than a simple update.
At the same time, the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro is not presented as trying to live up to any legacy, which reinforces how distinct this redesign is. The tradeoff is that the car’s usability still matters, and the source notes that the previous model had serious setbacks that hurt daily driving. Owner feedback echoes some of that practicality concern, with praise for the sporty design, smooth ride, powerful performance, advanced technology, and handling, but complaints that visibility can be a significant issue and that the cabin may feel cramped for taller drivers.

All the tech you could need. Better build quality than expected, better ride than expected. Handling and power phenomenal. Car is solid. Cockpit is snug, but comfy. Sips gas, unless you have a lead foot, if you do plan on extra tires!

Reviewed a 2016 Chevrolet Camaro on Sep 22, 2022
Amazing performance. Tons of power and handling was very good for such a big coupe. Nice features including a rev matching downshift that worked flawlessly. The interior is okay with some odd placement for the air vents. Plastic was typical GM. The biggest downside is visibility. I couldnt see anything for changing lanes or passing. Wife didnt like the interior at all. The seats were fine for me, but not for my wife.

| Year-Round Low | $21,031 |
| Year-Round High | $23,660 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $23,321 |
| Change vs. Last Year | −0.33% |
Prices have held steady compared to this time last year, signaling a stable and predictable market for this model year.
There are 1,302 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of options to compare on price and condition.
Is the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro a good car?
Generally — 4.38/5 from owners, with an expert rating of 7.33/10. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel and Technology.
Owners consistently praise the sporty design, smooth ride, powerful performance, advanced technology, and handling. In practical terms, that lines up with the Camaro’s completely redesigned layout and its more refined, modern feel.
For you, that means this Camaro makes the most sense if you want a stylish performance coupe with a strong tech and driving-character payoff. The market also shows 29.3% good or great deals, which suggests there are still worthwhile opportunities if you shop carefully.
Is the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro reliable?
Owners rate it 4.38/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.
The owner feedback points to a car people tend to enjoy living with, especially when it comes to the way it drives and the overall experience. The expert notes also frame this Camaro as a more refined redesign, which supports the idea that it’s a more mature version of the nameplate.
The performance writeup also emphasizes that the Camaro’s platform sharing with Cadillac helped bring a new level of refinement, and the cost-effectiveness notes describe the V6 as a fun, effective compromise between performance, efficiency, and practicality.
For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about outright mechanical drama and more about whether the car’s condition and equipment history have been maintained well.
What should I look for when buying a used 2016 Chevrolet Camaro?
At 53.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle-history report and then prioritize a careful inspection of bodywork, panel alignment, and any signs of prior repair. Because visibility is a known weakness, it’s also smart to focus on how well the car’s cameras, sensors, and blind-spot aids are working if the car has them.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The 2LT adds push-button start, an 8-way power driver’s seat, heated and ventilated front seats, dual-zone climate control, a Bose premium stereo, and the 8-inch MyLink touchscreen, while the Convenience and Lighting package adds rear park assist, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alerts.
- Powertrain: The base engine is a turbocharged inline 4-cylinder with 275 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque, with a 3.6-liter V6 available at 335 horsepower and 284 pound-feet of torque, and a 6.2-liter LT1 V8 in the SS with 455 horsepower and 455 lb-ft of torque.
- Safety package: StabiliTrak stability control, traction control, advanced dual-stage airbags, and a standard backup camera are included, while rear park assist, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alerts appear in the Convenience and Lighting package.
- Infotainment: The Camaro uses an 8-inch MyLink touchscreen, and the system supports CarPlay; the test vehicle also had a head-up display.
- Fuel efficiency: The turbo four with the 8-speed automatic returns 22 mpg city, 31 highway, 25 combined; the V6 automatic returns 19 mpg city, 28 highway, 23 combined; and the V8 SS with a manual returns 16 mpg city, 25 highway, 19 combined.
Which 2016 Chevrolet Camaro trim should I buy?
The 2016 Chevrolet Camaro is offered in 3 trim levels: 2LT, SS, and 2LT V6 Camaro.
Here's the short version:
- 2LT: This is the best-value choice if you want the Camaro’s modern cabin and everyday comfort features without jumping to V8 pricing. It adds push-button start, an 8-way power driver’s seat, heated and ventilated front seats, dual-zone climate control, a Bose premium stereo, and the 8-inch MyLink touchscreen.
- 2LT V6 Camaro: This is the sweet spot if you want stronger performance than the turbo four while keeping the car’s fun-to-drive, more practical side. The V6 is described as a fun, effective compromise between performance, efficiency, and practicality.
- SS: Choose this if you want the full muscle-car experience, since it brings the 6.2-liter LT1 V8 with 455 horsepower and 455 lb-ft of torque.
The safety package note to keep in mind is that rear park assist, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alerts were part of the Convenience and Lighting package, not standard equipment.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Chevrolet Camaro?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but still move quickly on the right car.
- Deal availability: 29.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 1,302 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 53.5% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $21,031, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro's resale value?
The current average of $23,244 sits slightly below last year's $23,321.
That small decline suggests the market has been fairly stable rather than sharply weakening. If you buy well and keep the car in strong condition, you should have a reasonable shot at preserving value better than a car with a more volatile price history.
The fact that pricing has stayed close to last year’s level also points to steady demand from shoppers who want this generation’s redesign and performance focus. That helps support future resale, especially for well-kept examples with desirable equipment.
Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.38/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro safe?
The 2016 Chevrolet Camaro earns a 5/10 safety score from our experts.
The Camaro comes with safety features such as StabiliTrak stability control, traction control, advanced dual-stage airbags, and a standard backup camera. As part of the Convenience and Lighting package, features like rear park assist, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alerts were all featured on our test car.
Its biggest safety drawback is visibility: the styling creates thick pillars and poor sight lines, which the expert review describes as a serious concern. That means you should pay close attention to how comfortable you feel with the outward visibility before you buy, especially if you’ll drive in dense traffic or tight parking situations.
Should I buy a 2016 Chevrolet Camaro or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2016 if:
- 29.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 53.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.38/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
- It’s a completely redesigned Camaro with a more refined platform, updated looks, and modern infotainment.
Consider the 2017 if:
- At $24,412, the 2017 costs more than the current year's $23,244 average.
- It leans harder into the Camaro’s dramatic, performance-first personality.
The bottom line: if you want the better value and a more stable price point, the 2016 is the smarter starting point. If you’re willing to pay more for the next year’s added emphasis on excitement and can live with the same basic Camaro tradeoffs, the 2017 is worth a look. For price-sensitive buyers, the 2016 remains the more balanced buy.
