How much does the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro cost?

Prices have softened 2.17% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,249 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of options to compare.

Is the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro a good car?

Generally — the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro earns a 4.4/5 user rating and a 7.3/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel and Technology.

Owners consistently praise its sporty design, smooth ride, powerful performance, advanced technology, and handling. The Camaro’s redesigned cabin and modern infotainment setup also fit buyers who want a sporty coupe with a more refined, contemporary feel. At the same time, the car’s tight cabin and visibility challenges matter if you plan to use it as a daily driver.

With 30.3% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have room to shop selectively.

Is the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro reliable?

Owners rate it 4.4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a car that feels dependable and trouble-free enough to earn strong satisfaction from people living with it. The expert evaluation also describes it as a fun, effective compromise between performance, efficiency, and practicality, which supports the idea that it can be a confident long-term choice when maintained well. If you buy used, the main ownership risk is less about mechanical drama and more about finding a well-kept example that hasn’t been worn down by hard use.

What should I look for when buying a used 2016 Chevrolet Camaro?

At 51.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a careful inspection of bodywork, alignment, and any signs of prior repair. Because visibility is a known weakness, you should also pay close attention to how the car feels in real-world driving, especially if you plan to use it often in traffic or tight parking situations. Condition matters a lot here, so focus on examples with clean records and evidence of consistent care.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The 2LT automatic 4-cylinder adds push-button start, an 8-way power driver’s seat, heated and ventilated front seats, dual-zone climate control, a Bose premium stereo, and the 8-inch MyLink touchscreen. It also shows how much equipment you gain over a more basic setup, especially if you want a better daily-driver experience.
• Powertrain: The base engine is a turbocharged inline 4-cylinder with 275 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque. You can also choose a 3.6-liter V6 with 335 horsepower and 284 pound-feet of torque, while the SS uses a 6.2-liter V8 with 455 horsepower and 455 lb-ft of torque.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes StabiliTrak stability control, traction control, advanced dual-stage airbags, and a backup camera. The Convenience and Lighting package adds rear park assist, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alerts.
• Infotainment: Chevy’s MyLink system uses an 8-inch touchscreen with large icons, and the car can include CarPlay and a head-up display. The setup is designed to be easy to use while driving.
• Fuel efficiency: The turbo four with the 8-speed automatic returns 22 mpg city, 31 highway, and 25 combined. The V6 automatic returns 19 mpg city, 28 highway, and 23 combined. The V8 manual returns 16 mpg city, 25 highway, and 19 combined.

Which 2016 Chevrolet Camaro trim should I buy?

The 2016 Chevrolet Camaro is offered in 4 trim levels: 2LT, SS, 2LT V6, and 2LT automatic 4-cylinder.

Here's the short version:

• 2LT automatic 4-cylinder: This is the best-value choice if you want the Camaro’s modern cabin, strong tech, and the most approachable daily-driving setup. It brings the 8-inch MyLink touchscreen, heated and ventilated front seats, dual-zone climate control, and a Bose premium stereo.
• 2LT V6: This is the sweet spot if you want more power without jumping to SS pricing. It keeps the comfort and tech advantages while adding the stronger V6, making it the most balanced pick for many shoppers.
• SS: Choose this if you want the full performance experience and are willing to pay for it. The V8 delivers the most power by a wide margin, but it also pushes the car into a much more expensive ownership bracket.

The safety package note is worth remembering: rear park assist, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alerts were part of the Convenience and Lighting package, not standard equipment.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Chevrolet Camaro?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 30.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,249 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.17% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 51.2% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $21,025, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro's resale value?

The current average of $21,801 sits slightly below last year's $22,285.

That softer pricing suggests the Camaro is in a buyer-friendly phase right now, which can help you get more car for your money. For a future seller, it also means you should expect resale value to depend heavily on condition, mileage, and trim desirability rather than broad market momentum. Well-kept examples with strong equipment and clean history should hold up better than rougher cars with visible wear.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro safe?

The Camaro earns a five-star overall rating from NHTSA.

It earns a 5/10 safety score from our experts.

The Camaro comes with StabiliTrak stability control, traction control, advanced dual-stage airbags, and a standard backup camera. The Convenience and Lighting package adds rear park assist, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alerts. The biggest caveat is visibility: the car’s thick pillars and limited sight lines are a real drawback, so you should treat the available driver aids as helpful support rather than a cure-all.

Should I buy a 2016 Chevrolet Camaro or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 30.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 51.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.17% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• The 2016 brings a fully redesigned body, a better interior, and the latest infotainment tech.

Consider the 2017 if:

• At $23,597, the 2017 costs more than the current year's $21,801 average.
• It emphasizes a more intense, high-energy personality with tighter space and stronger emotional appeal.

The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2016 is the smarter buy because it combines a lower average price with strong owner satisfaction and a modern redesign. If you care more about the next model year’s personality and can spend more, the 2017 is the alternative to consider.

How does the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro compare to the 2016 Ford Mustang?

Our experts score the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro 7.3/10 and the 2016 Ford Mustang 7.5/10.

The Camaro is the pricier used buy, but it also brings stronger fuel economy in the base comparison and a more modern redesign. The Mustang undercuts it on average used price and has a slightly higher expert score, while also offering more listings and a better accident-free share. If you want the newer-feeling cabin and tech, the Camaro has the edge; if you want the lower-cost, slightly better-rated choice, the Mustang is the safer bet.
