How much does the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro cost?

Prices have softened 2.16% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,266 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of options to compare.

Is the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro a good car?

Generally — the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro earns a 4.4/5 user rating and a 7.3/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel and Technology.

Owners consistently praise the sporty design, smooth ride, powerful performance, advanced technology, and handling capabilities. The overview also points to a car that blends modern hardware with a more refined platform, which helps it appeal if you want sporty style with updated underpinnings.

At the same time, the Camaro’s appeal is tempered by its limited practicality, especially if you care about visibility or cabin space. Even so, 30.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro reliable?

Owners rate it 4.4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner summary points to a car that many drivers find dependable in everyday use, with praise centered on its smooth ride, powerful performance, and advanced technology. That kind of feedback suggests you can count on the Camaro to deliver the experience buyers expect from it over time.

The expert drive notes also frame it as a refined, modern take on the Camaro formula, which supports the idea that it is built to be a more mature daily driver than older versions. If you’re buying used, the main long-term ownership risk is making sure the car has been cared for properly, since condition and maintenance history matter a lot on a performance coupe.

What should I look for when buying a used 2016 Chevrolet Camaro?

At 53.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has had any bodywork or cosmetic repairs. Pay close attention to visibility-related wear points, interior condition, and whether the car’s equipment still works as intended.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The 2LT automatic 4-cylinder adds push-button start, an 8-way power driver’s seat, heated and ventilated front seats, dual-zone climate control, a Bose premium stereo, and the 8-inch MyLink touchscreen. It’s the best-value choice if you want a more complete daily-driver setup without jumping to a higher-performance configuration.
• Powertrain: The base engine is a turbocharged inline 4-cylinder with 275 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque, and you can also opt for a 3.6-liter V6 with 335 horsepower and 284 pound-feet of torque. Power goes to the rear wheels through either a 6-speed manual or an available 8-speed automatic.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes StabiliTrak stability control, traction control, advanced dual-stage airbags, and a backup camera. The Convenience and Lighting package adds rear park assist, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alerts.
• Infotainment: The Camaro uses an 8-inch MyLink touchscreen, and the system supports CarPlay. The tech setup also includes a head-up display.
• Fuel efficiency: The turbo four with the 8-speed automatic returns 22 mpg city, 31 mpg highway, and 25 mpg combined. The V6 automatic test car achieves 19 mpg city, 28 mpg highway, and 23 mpg combined.

Which 2016 Chevrolet Camaro trim should I buy?

The 2016 Chevrolet Camaro is offered in 2 trim levels: 2LT and SS.

Here's the short version:

• 2LT: This is the trim that makes the most sense if you want the Camaro’s modern cabin, strong tech, and everyday comfort features without paying for V8 power. It adds the equipment that most clearly improves daily usability, and it’s the best-value trim for many shoppers.
• SS: This is the choice if you want the Camaro’s full performance character, including the 6.2-liter LT1 V8 and the most aggressive driving experience. It suits you best if performance matters more than price or efficiency.

The safety package note is important here: the Convenience and Lighting package adds rear park assist, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alerts.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Chevrolet Camaro?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so it makes sense to shop carefully and compare listings.

• Deal availability: 30.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,266 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.16% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 53.6% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $21,021, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro's resale value?

The current average of $21,994 sits slightly below last year's $22,479.

That softer pricing suggests the Camaro is currently in a buyer-friendly phase, which can work against future sellers if the market stays loose. If you buy well now, you may have less downside risk than someone who paid closer to the upper end of the range.

For resale, condition and equipment will matter a lot. A clean, well-kept Camaro with desirable features should hold buyer interest better than one with accident history or visible wear.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro safe?

The Camaro earns a 5/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety equipment includes StabiliTrak stability control, traction control, advanced dual-stage airbags, and a backup camera. The Convenience and Lighting package adds rear park assist, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alerts.

The biggest safety caveat is visibility: the Camaro’s styling creates very poor outward sight lines, and that can make everyday driving more stressful than in many rivals. If you’re shopping used, that limitation is worth weighing carefully, especially if you drive in dense traffic or tight parking situations.

Should I buy a 2016 Chevrolet Camaro or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 30.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 53.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.16% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• It’s a completely redesigned Camaro with a more refined platform, updated interior, and modern infotainment.

Consider the 2017 if:

• At $23,425, the 2017 costs more than the current year's $21,994 average.
• It emphasizes a more aggressive personality and stronger performance appeal.

The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2016 is the smarter starting point because prices are softer and inventory is healthy. If you’re willing to spend more for the next model year’s added appeal, the 2017 is the secondary path.

How does the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro compare to the 2016 Ford Mustang?

Our experts score the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro 7.3/10 and the 2016 Ford Mustang 7.5/10. The Mustang edges it on expert score, but the Camaro offers a more modern-feeling cabin and stronger tech highlights. The Camaro also has the higher average used price, while the Mustang is cheaper on average and has more listings available.

The Camaro’s 2.0L turbo four is more efficient than the Mustang’s V6 in the city and on the highway, while the Mustang’s V6 makes more horsepower. If you want the newer-feeling interior and better infotainment, the Camaro has the edge; if you want lower used pricing and a slightly stronger expert score, the Mustang is the easier value play.
