CarGurus Analysis: 2016 Buick Cascada
overall

Summary
With 129 currently listed for sale and an average price of $13,084.00, 27.1% of 2016 Buick Cascadas for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2016 Buick Cascada 5 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it a 6.17 / 10.
63.6% of 2016 Cascada models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2016 Buick Cascada stands out as Buick’s first convertible in 25 years, and it leans hard into a classic open-air cruising feel. Buick tapped Opel for this bulky boulevard cruiser, which gives it a distinctive place in the brand’s lineup and helps explain its relaxed, old-school character.
That character is also what makes the Cascada appealing to buyers who want style and easygoing top-down driving more than cutting-edge innovation. The expert test drive data describes it as offering a classic cruising experience, but also says it has too little forward thinking to truly impress. Owner feedback reinforces the appeal of its beautiful styling and enjoyable driving experience, with many appreciating that it is fun to drive with the top up or down and noting a roomy back seat. At the same time, some drivers point to a complicated infotainment system, limited trunk space, and a lack of top-end power, which are worth keeping in mind.

Beautiful styling, adequate technology, fun to drive with top up or down.

Steering is tight, the suspension is firm, the seats go farther back than most convertibles. The lack of trunk space, and the lack of top-end power, are minor issues for me. The infotainment center of the dash is overly complicated, too.. It was a priority for me to have a functional rear seat, accommodating two adults. The Cascada haa the roomiest back seat in its class.

How much does the 2016 Buick Cascada cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $13,318 |
| Year-Round Low | $12,355.74 |
| Year-Round High | $14,429.84 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $14,322 |
| Change vs. Last Year | −7.01% |
Prices have softened 7.01% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.
There are 145 listings available, which gives you a modest amount of inventory to compare before you buy.
If you find a listing below $12,355.74, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
Is the 2016 Buick Cascada a good car?
Yes — the 2016 Buick Cascada earns a 5/5 user rating and a 6.17/10 expert rating. The model scores 7/10 across Look and feel, Form and function, and Cost effectiveness.
Owners consistently praise its beautiful styling, enjoyable driving experience, and roomy back seat. The open-air setup also stands out, since many shoppers like that it is fun to drive with the top up or down. In context, this is a car for you if you want a relaxed, style-first convertible rather than a cutting-edge performance machine.
With 25.5% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2016 Buick Cascada reliable?
Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The owner summary points to a dependable-feeling ownership experience, with buyers highlighting enjoyable driving and a car they like to live with over time. The expert commentary also frames it as a classic cruising experience, which supports the idea that it is built around easygoing use rather than constant drama.
Buick’s standard equipment includes a straightforward set of comfort and convenience features, and that can help the car feel well sorted in daily use. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about outright complexity and more about whether prior owners kept up with maintenance and avoided neglect.
What should I look for when buying a used 2016 Buick Cascada?
At 65.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has been used as a fair-weather cruiser or has visible wear from top-down driving. Focus on condition details that matter on a convertible: roof operation, interior wear, and signs of past bodywork or water intrusion.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The base Convertible trim already includes a power soft top, adaptive xenon headlights, remote engine start, heated 8-way leather power seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, heated mirrors, rear parking sensors, a rear-view camera, a heated tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, 20-inch alloys, foglights, voice controls, smartphone integration, and a 7-inch touchscreen. The Premium trim adds forward-collision warning, lane-departure warning, front and rear parking sensors, auto wipers, and interior air deflectors, so the feature gap is meaningful if you want more driver assistance.
- Powertrain: The Cascada uses a 1.6-liter turbocharged engine with about 200 hp and 207 lb-ft of torque, plus an overboost feature that briefly raises torque to 221 lb-ft. Despite that, the car’s weight makes it feel underpowered, and the 0-60 run takes the better part of 9 seconds.
- Safety package: The standard safety equipment includes antilock discs, traction and stability control, a full suite of airbags with front-seat side and front knee protection, and rollover-deploying safety hoops. The Premium trim adds forward-collision warning and lane-departure warning, but blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are not included.
- Infotainment: You get a 7-inch touchscreen with smartphone integration, but the system is described as dated and confusing. The tech setup lacks blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert, and the car does not have keyless ignition.
- Fuel efficiency: The Cascada is rated at 20 mpg city and 27 mpg highway, for a combined 23 mpg.
Which 2016 Buick Cascada trim should I buy?
The 2016 Buick Cascada is offered in 2 trim levels: Convertible and Premium.
Here's the short version:
- Convertible: This is the best-value trim if you want the Cascada’s core appeal without paying extra for more driver-assistance tech. You still get the power soft top, heated leather seats, dual-zone climate control, a rear-view camera, rear parking sensors, and smartphone integration, which makes it the trim that most clearly delivers the car’s relaxed cruising mission.
- Premium: Choose this trim if you want the added safety and convenience features, especially forward-collision warning, lane-departure warning, front and rear parking sensors, auto wipers, and interior air deflectors. It makes the most sense if you value a more complete equipment list and are willing to pay more for it.
The safety package is stronger on the Premium trim, but the base Convertible already covers the essentials well.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Buick Cascada?
This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop patiently but still need to move quickly on the right car.
- Deal availability: 25.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 145 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 7.01% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 65.5% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $12,355.74, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2016 Buick Cascada's resale value?
The current average of $13,318 sits slightly below last year's $14,322.
That softer pricing suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favorable entry point. For a future seller, it also means you should expect resale value to depend heavily on condition, mileage, and how well the car presents as a clean, well-kept convertible.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2016 Buick Cascada safe?
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has not yet tested the Cascada, but Buick “anticipates” a five-star rating, for whatever that’s worth.
It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.
The Cascada comes with standard safety features like antilock discs, traction and stability control, a full suite of airbags including front-seat side and front knee protection, and rollover-deploying safety hoops. The Premium trim adds forward-collision warning and lane-departure warning, but the car still lacks blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert, which is a notable gap for a used shopper to weigh carefully.
Should I buy a 2016 Buick Cascada or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2016 if:
- 25.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 65.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 7.01% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- It delivers a classic cruising experience with a distinctive open-air character, but the expert summary also says it leans more backward-looking than forward-thinking.
The bottom line: If you want the Cascada’s style-first convertible experience and you find a clean example at the right price, the 2016 is a reasonable buy. If you are especially price-sensitive, keep shopping for the best-condition car with the strongest history report, since the market still has enough inventory to reward patience.
