Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2016 Buick Cascada 5 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it a 6.17 / 10.

Why it stands out
The 2016 Buick Cascada stands out as Buick’s first convertible in 25 years, and that alone gives it a rare place in the brand’s lineup. It is presented as a bulky boulevard cruiser, with a classic cruising character that looks backward more than forward. That old-school appeal is a big part of its identity, especially for buyers who want a relaxed open-air car rather than something focused on modern flash or cutting-edge tech.
In practice, the Cascada’s appeal comes from its styling and easygoing personality. Owners praise its beautiful design and enjoyable driving experience, and many like that it is fun to drive with the top up or down. The roomy back seat is another plus, which helps it feel more usable than some convertibles. At the same time, the car is not without compromises: some drivers dislike the complicated infotainment system, limited trunk space, and lack of top-end power.

Steering is tight, the suspension is firm, the seats go farther back than most convertibles. The lack of trunk space, and the lack of top-end power, are minor issues for me. The infotainment center of the dash is overly complicated, too.. It was a priority for me to have a functional rear seat, accommodating two adults. The Cascada haa the roomiest back seat in its class.

How much does the 2016 Buick Cascada cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $12,370 |
| Year-Round Low | $12,357 |
| Year-Round High | $13,968 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $13,742 |
| Change vs. Last Year | −9.98% |
Prices have softened 9.98% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.
There are 129 listings available, which gives you a modest pool of used Cascadas to compare.
Is the 2016 Buick Cascada a good car?
Yes — it earns a 5/5 user rating and a 6.2/10 expert rating. The model scores 7/10 across Look and feel, Form and function, and Cost effectiveness.
Owners consistently praise the beautiful styling, enjoyable driving experience, and roomy back seat. The overview also points to its relaxed open-air character and usable top-up, top-down personality, which fits you well if you want a cruiser rather than a flashier performance convertible. At the same time, the same feedback highlights the complicated infotainment system, limited trunk space, and lack of top-end power.
Only 36.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so the market has some value opportunities but still rewards careful comparison shopping.
Is the 2016 Buick Cascada reliable?
Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The user feedback points to a car that owners find enjoyable and easy to live with, and the expert commentary reinforces its role as a relaxed, dependable cruiser rather than a high-strung machine. The cost-effectiveness notes also frame it as a niche model that can make sense if it matches what you want, which matters for long-term ownership satisfaction.
Buick’s standard maintenance and ownership experience may be fine for a buyer who values comfort and style, but the Cascada’s age, weight, and dated hardware mean you should pay close attention to condition and service history before committing.
What should I look for when buying a used 2016 Buick Cascada?
At 62.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a car with higher mileage or visible cosmetic wear. Focus on the top mechanism, infotainment operation, and signs of suspension or wheel damage, since this is a heavy convertible that can be more sensitive to neglect. It also makes sense to verify that all safety and convenience features work as expected, because the car’s appeal depends heavily on its equipment.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The base Convertible trim already includes a power soft top, adaptive xenon headlights, remote engine start, heated 8-way leather power seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, heated mirrors, rear parking sensors, a rear-view camera, a heated tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, 20-inch alloys, foglights, voice controls, smartphone integration, and a 7-inch touchscreen. The Premium trim adds forward-collision warning, lane-departure warning, front and rear parking sensors, auto wipers, and interior air deflectors.
- Powertrain: The Cascada uses a 1.6-liter turbocharged engine with 200 hp and 207 lb-ft of torque, but the car’s weight makes it feel underpowered. It is quick enough for relaxed cruising, not for strong acceleration.
- Safety package: Standard safety equipment includes antilock discs, traction and stability control, a full suite of airbags including front-seat side and front knee airbags, and rollover-deploying safety hoops. The Premium trim adds forward-collision warning and lane-departure warning, while blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are not included.
- Infotainment: The car uses a 7-inch touchscreen, smartphone integration, voice controls, and older infotainment and climate-control systems. The setup is dated, and the content points to missing keyless ignition.
- Fuel efficiency: The Cascada is rated at 20 mpg city and 27 mpg highway, with a combined rating of 23 mpg. Real-world results can run lower.
Which 2016 Buick Cascada trim should I buy?
The 2016 Buick Cascada is offered in 2 trim levels: Convertible and Premium.
Here's the short version:
- Convertible: This is the value play because it already brings a long list of comfort and convenience features, including the power soft top, heated leather seats, rear camera, rear parking sensors, and smartphone integration. If you want the Cascada for its style and relaxed cruising character, this is the trim that gives you the core experience without pushing the price up as much.
- Premium: This trim is the better pick if you want the added driver-assistance features, especially forward-collision warning and lane-departure warning, along with front parking sensors, auto wipers, and interior air deflectors. It makes sense if you want the most complete Cascada, but the jump in price is significant.
The safety package is stronger on the Premium trim, but the car still lacks blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Buick Cascada?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but should move quickly on the right car.
- Deal availability: 36.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 129 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 9.98% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 62.8% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $12,357, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2016 Buick Cascada's resale value?
The current average of $12,370 sits slightly below last year's $13,742.
That decline suggests the Cascada has already absorbed a meaningful amount of depreciation, which can help you as a buyer but may limit upside if you plan to resell soon. If you buy at the right price and keep the car in strong condition, you may be able to soften the impact of future depreciation. The model’s niche appeal can help support demand, but its dated tech and modest performance may narrow the pool of future shoppers.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2016 Buick Cascada safe?
The Cascada has not been crash tested by NHTSA, but Buick anticipates a five-star rating.
It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.
Standard safety equipment includes antilock discs, traction and stability control, a full suite of airbags including front-seat side and front knee airbags, and rollover-deploying safety hoops. The Premium trim adds forward-collision warning and lane-departure warning. The missing blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are notable gaps, especially for a convertible that leans heavily on comfort and convenience rather than advanced driver assistance.
Should I buy a 2016 Buick Cascada or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2016 if:
- 36.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 62.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 9.98% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- It stands out as Buick’s first convertible in 25 years, with a classic cruising character and a roomy back seat that make it more usable than many convertibles.
The bottom line: If you want the Cascada’s relaxed open-air personality and can find one in clean condition at a strong price, the 2016 is the right path. If you’re especially price-sensitive, focus on the lowest-priced listings and be selective about history and condition, since the market still includes a meaningful share of accident-involved cars.
