How much does the 2016 BMW M3 cost?

There are 125 listings available, which gives you a modest amount of inventory to compare before you buy.

Is the 2016 BMW M3 a good car?

The 2016 BMW M3 stands out as a sedan that blends serious performance with everyday usability. It pairs a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder engine with rear-wheel drive and a standard six-speed manual gearbox, and BMW says it can reach 60 mph in just over four seconds. That combination makes it appealing if you want a high-performance car that still feels practical enough for regular use.

It also gives you room to tailor the car to your preferences, with seating for five, a 16.9-cubic-foot trunk, and available upgrades for comfort, convenience, safety, and performance. The tradeoff is that the electric-assist steering drew criticism, so you should weigh the car’s strengths as a performance sedan against that known compromise. 29.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which suggests there are still some attractive opportunities if you shop carefully.

Is the 2016 BMW M3 reliable?

The 2016 BMW M3 is presented as a car that can deliver strong performance while still working as a daily driver, but it also comes with the usual used-performance-car concerns about abuse, indifferent maintenance, and modifications that are difficult to unwind. Its appeal comes from the balance of capability and practicality, not from being a low-maintenance ownership choice.

For a used buyer, that means long-term ownership risk depends heavily on how the car was treated before you found it. A clean, well-maintained example is the goal, because neglected or heavily modified cars can become expensive quickly.

What should I look for when buying a used 2016 BMW M3?

At 56% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report so you can separate clean examples from cars with accident records or other red flags. After that, prioritize a pre-purchase inspection from a shop that knows performance cars, since maintenance quality and modification history matter a lot here. Focus on overall condition, signs of hard use, and whether any changes look reversible and properly documented.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 BMW M3?

This is a seller’s market, so you should act selectively and be ready to move when a strong listing appears.

• Deal availability: 29.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 125 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices are up 6.73% year-over-year.
• Clean inventory: 56.0% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $41,952, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 BMW M3's resale value?

The current average of $44,472 sits slightly above last year's $41,669.

That upward move suggests the market has been willing to pay more for this model year, which can support resale value if you buy well and keep the car in strong condition. For a future seller, that means a clean history, careful maintenance, and minimal questionable modifications should matter a lot when it comes time to list the car. The current pricing trend also hints that well-kept examples may hold their value better than neglected ones.

Should I buy a 2016 BMW M3 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 29.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 56% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices are up 6.73% year-over-year.

The bottom line: The 2016 is a strong choice if you want the M3’s blend of performance and everyday usability and you’re willing to shop carefully for a clean example. If you’re more price-sensitive, a nearby year may give you more room to compare condition and history, but the 2016 still makes sense when you find a well-kept car at the right price.
