Used 2016 Acura TLX for Sale nearDurham, NC

How much does the 2016 Acura TLX cost?

Prices have held steady compared to this time last year, signaling a stable and predictable market for this model year.

There are 566 listings available, which gives you a modest amount of inventory to compare before you buy.

Is the 2016 Acura TLX a good car?

Yes — the 2016 Acura TLX earns a 5/5 user rating and a 6.5/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Cost effectiveness at 9/10.

The TLX is positioned as a performance luxury sedan, so you’re looking at a car meant to balance driving enjoyment with upscale appeal. The expert assessment also frames it as part of Acura’s effort to restore passion and pride to the brand, which gives the car a clear identity beyond basic transportation.

You should expect a value-oriented luxury sedan that aims to feel premium without chasing the most expensive rivals. 30.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which suggests there are still some attractive opportunities in the market.

Is the 2016 Acura TLX reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The TLX is described as a bargain relative to similarly equipped premium sedans, and its cabin materials and seat comfort support that upscale impression. The expert notes also point to a car that can feel refined and well-equipped, even if its overall execution is uneven.

From a dependability standpoint, the performance notes highlight a smooth and powerful V6, but also mention brake fade under hard use and heat. For used buyers, that means long-term ownership risk is less about basic comfort and more about whether the car has been maintained carefully and driven without abuse.

What should I look for when buying a used 2016 Acura TLX?

At 51.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should run a vehicle history report before you commit, then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on bodywork, braking performance, and overall wear. Because the car’s appeal depends heavily on condition, you’ll want to pay close attention to how well the cabin, controls, and mechanicals have held up.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The 4-cylinder trim starts the lineup, while the V6 and SH-AWD versions add more performance and a more upscale feel; the base car is the one most likely to leave you wanting more equipment.
• Powertrain: The TLX is available with a 4-cylinder or V6 engine, and SH-AWD versions add torque-vectoring capability that sharpens handling; the V6 brings stronger performance, while the 4-cylinder is the more value-focused choice.
• Safety package: The car includes a driver-assistance and collision-avoidance suite that operates with sophistication, but the safety content also points to a small-overlap frontal weakness and a child-seat anchor usability shortcoming.
• Infotainment: The TLX does not offer Apple CarPlay or Android Auto, but it does provide a dual-screen setup, Bluetooth, Aha and Pandora internet radio, Siri Eyes Free, and text/email reading features.
• Fuel efficiency: The V6 test car was rated at 25 mpg, and the test loop returned 22.8 mpg.

Which 2016 Acura TLX trim should I buy?

The 2016 Acura TLX is offered in 2 trim levels: TLX 2.4 and TLX 3.5 SH-AWD.

Here's the short version:

• TLX 2.4: This is the entry point and the value play if you want the TLX’s upscale feel without paying for the V6 and SH-AWD hardware. It makes the most sense if you care more about price and comfort than maximum performance.
• TLX 3.5 SH-AWD: This is the better choice if you want the TLX to feel like the performance luxury sedan Acura is aiming for. The V6, torque-vectoring SH-AWD, and handling tech make it the more rewarding version, and it’s the best-value trim if you want the strongest driving experience.

The safety content also notes a small-overlap frontal weakness and child-seat anchor usability concerns, so condition and inspection matter regardless of trim.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Acura TLX?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory to shop carefully and enough deal activity to find value if you’re patient.

• Deal availability: 30.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 566 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 51.2% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $13,998, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 Acura TLX's resale value?

The current average of $14,719 sits slightly below last year's $14,751.

That small decline suggests the TLX has been holding value fairly steadily rather than dropping sharply. For a future seller, that kind of pricing pattern usually points to a market that is stable but not especially hot.

Because the model’s appeal depends on condition, maintenance history and accident-free status will matter a lot when you go to resell. A clean, well-kept example should be easier to move than one with visible wear or a questionable history.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2016 Acura TLX safe?

The 2016 Acura TLX earns five-star ratings across the board from NHTSA, but it also receives a Marginal rating for small-overlap frontal-impact protection from the IIHS.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

The safety content says Acura’s driver-assistance and collision-avoidance technologies generally operate with a high level of sophistication. It also flags a notable shortcoming: the TLX’s small-overlap frontal result and its Marginal rating for child-seat LATCH anchor ease of use.

Should I buy a 2016 Acura TLX or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 30.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 51.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• Acura’s own pitch frames it as a performance luxury sedan that balances driving enjoyment with upscale appeal.

Consider the 2015 if:

• At $13,704, the 2015 costs less than the current year's $14,719 average.
• Rewarding driving dynamics and a long list of modern entertainment and safety technologies help it compete with pricier premium sedans.

The bottom line: You should lean toward the 2016 if you want the current-year market, stable pricing, and the TLX’s upscale-performance identity. If your priority is saving money, the 2015 is the better value path, especially if you find a clean example with the equipment you want.
