How much does the 2016 Acura RDX cost?

Prices have softened 4.40% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 757 listings available, which suggests you should have a workable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2016 Acura RDX a good car?

Generally — the 2016 Acura RDX earns a 4/5 user rating and a 7.2/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Safety at 9/10.

Acura frames this RDX as a 5-passenger crossover SUV for buyers who want a practical premium vehicle with a broader set of upgrades than a simple cosmetic refresh. The update brings a revised powertrain, enhanced safety, new infotainment technology, and freshened styling, so you’re looking at a model year that was meaningfully improved rather than lightly tweaked.

The market also shows 35.7% good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2016 Acura RDX reliable?

Owners rate it 4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

Acura describes the RDX as expected to be reliable, expected to hold its value well, and expected to be relatively affordable to own over time. The powertrain is also presented as efficient for what it delivers, with Variable Cylinder Management helping the V6 save fuel when conditions allow.

Premium fuel is recommended for the V6 engine, but it isn’t required, which helps keep day-to-day ownership more flexible. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is making sure the vehicle’s maintenance history is clean and that the upgraded hardware has been cared for properly.

What should I look for when buying a used 2016 Acura RDX?

At 60% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage example or one with a lower asking price. Focus on condition, repair quality, and whether the equipment level matches what you expect from the trim you’re shopping.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base setup is the most stripped-down version, while the AcuraWatch, Technology, and Advance packages add more equipment and convenience. The Advance package is the most fully equipped, and it includes the factory options that matter most if you want the most complete version of the RDX.
• Powertrain: The RDX uses a 3.5-liter V6 with 279 horsepower, paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive is standard, AWD is available, and the engine uses Variable Cylinder Management to help efficiency.
• Safety package: AcuraWatch Plus adds adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking, and lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assist. Technology and Advance models also add blind-spot warning with rear cross-traffic alert.
• Infotainment: The RDX uses a dual-screen infotainment setup, with the lower screen dedicated to radio and media and the upper screen handling the rest of the system. The setup is designed to be more intuitive than the larger Acura SUV’s arrangement, and it includes navigation with real-time traffic data.
• Fuel efficiency: The RDX is rated at 19 mpg city, 28 mpg highway, and 22 mpg combined with AWD. The V6 is also described as returning up to 29 mpg on the highway.

Which 2016 Acura RDX trim should I buy?

The 2016 Acura RDX is offered in 4 trim levels: base, AcuraWatch, Technology, and Advance.

Here's the short version:

• base: This is the entry point, so it makes sense if you want the RDX’s V6 power and premium feel without paying for extra driver-assistance or convenience features.
• AcuraWatch: This is the best-value trim if you want the core safety upgrades, since it adds the AcuraWatch Plus package with adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking, and lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assist.
• Technology: This is the smart step-up if you want more convenience and confidence, because it adds the blind-spot warning system with rear cross-traffic alert and keeps the RDX feeling well equipped.
• Advance: This is the most complete version, and it’s the one to choose if you want the fullest feature set from the factory, including the safety and convenience equipment bundled into the top package.

Choose the Technology or Advance package if blind-spot warning and rear cross-traffic alert are important to you.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Acura RDX?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully without expecting every listing to be a bargain.

• Deal availability: 35.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 757 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.40% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 60.0% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $14,404, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 Acura RDX's resale value?

The current average of $14,462 sits slightly below last year's $15,127.

That softer pricing suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favorable point in the cycle. For a future seller, that also means resale value will depend heavily on condition, mileage, and how well the vehicle has been maintained.

Because the RDX is positioned as a premium crossover with strong equipment and a solid reputation for value, a clean example should remain easier to move than one with accident history or visible wear. Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2016 Acura RDX safe?

The 2016 Acura RDX earns a five-star overall rating from the federal government, with five-star ratings in each collision assessment and a four-star rating for rollover resistance.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

AcuraWatch Plus includes adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking, and lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assist. Technology and Advance trims also add blind-spot warning with rear cross-traffic alert, which broadens the RDX’s driver-assistance coverage.

One caveat is that the lane-departure warning system was less accurate during testing, so you may want to verify that the alerts and assist features behave the way you expect.

Should I buy a 2016 Acura RDX or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 35.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 60% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.40% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• For 2016, Acura gives its 5-passenger crossover SUV, the RDX, a thorough update, upgrading the powertrain, enhancing vehicle safety, installing new infotainment technologies, and more.

The bottom line: The 2016 RDX makes the most sense if you want the updated version of this crossover with stronger safety, better tech, and a more refined powertrain than the prior year. If you’re mainly chasing the lowest possible price, a nearby year may still be worth comparing, but the 2016 is the better pick when you want the refreshed package and can find a clean example at a fair price.
