The new powertrains are the main long-term ownership wildcard, so a careful used-car inspection matters more if you’re looking at higher-mileage examples.

What should I look for when buying a used 2015 Volvo S60?

At 65.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle-history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially on cars with higher mileage or incomplete service records. Focus on signs of prior body damage, uneven tire wear, and any evidence of deferred maintenance. Because some owners mention maintenance concerns, you’ll want to pay close attention to how the car has been cared for.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The S60 range includes the T5 Drive-E FWD, T5 AWD, T6 Drive-E FWD, and T6 R-Design AWD. The base setup is well equipped, while Premier and Platinum add more equipment, and the R-Design brings exterior enhancements, a Sport chassis, and interior upgrades.
• Powertrain: You get new Drive-E engines in front-wheel-drive versions, while all-wheel-drive versions continue with proven 5- and 6-cylinder powertrains. The 2.0-liter turbocharged engine is described as smooth, refined, and quiet, with strong fuel economy.
• Safety package: Standard City Safety can automatically brake at speeds below 30 mph, and available systems include BLIS with Cross-Traffic Alert, Collision Warning with Full Auto Brake, and Pedestrian and Cyclist Detection. Some of these features are available rather than standard, so check the exact equipment on the car you’re considering.
• Infotainment: Standard Sensus Connect uses a 7-inch screen, and Volvo On Call includes a WiFi hotspot. The system supports apps and can work with smartphone connectivity, while navigation is available.
• Fuel efficiency: The new 2.0-liter turbocharged engine is rated at 25 mpg city/37 highway, and the muscular T6 R-Design AWD is rated at 19/28.

Which 2015 Volvo S60 trim should I buy?

The 2015 Volvo S60 is offered in 4 trim levels: T5 Drive-E FWD, T5 AWD, T6 Drive-E FWD, and T6 R-Design AWD.

Here's the short version:

• T5 Drive-E FWD: This is the entry point and the best-value choice if you want the newest Drive-E powertrain, strong fuel economy, and the core S60 experience without stretching the budget.
• T5 AWD: Choose this if you want the security of all-wheel drive and prefer the proven 5-cylinder setup.
• T6 Drive-E FWD: This is the pick if you want more power from the turbo- and supercharged Drive-E engine and are willing to spend more for stronger acceleration.
• T6 R-Design AWD: This is the most performance-focused version, with the most power, a Sport chassis, and interior and exterior upgrades.

Premier and Platinum add more equipment, and the safety content notes that some advanced driver-assistance features are available rather than standard.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2015 Volvo S60?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.

• Deal availability: 33.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 281 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.20% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 65.8% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $8,959, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2015 Volvo S60's resale value?

The current average of $8,959 sits slightly below last year's $9,977.

That softer pricing suggests the model has become more accessible for used buyers, but it also means future sellers may not see especially strong appreciation. If you buy well and keep the car in good condition, you can help protect value, but the market is still favoring shoppers more than sellers right now.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2015 Volvo S60 safe?

The 2015 Volvo S60 earns a 10/10 safety score from our experts.

It earns a strong safety reputation thanks to standard City Safety, which can automatically apply the brakes at speeds below 30 mph, plus Dynamic Stability and Traction Control with Advanced Stability Control, Corner Traction Control, and Sport Mode. Available driver-assistance features include BLIS with Cross-Traffic Alert, Collision Warning with Full Auto Brake, and Pedestrian and Cyclist Detection.

The safety content also highlights Volvo’s long history of passive and active safety systems, which is a major reason this model appeals to cautious used-car shoppers.

Should I buy a 2015 Volvo S60 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2015 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2015 if:

• 33.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 65.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.20% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• The 2015.5 refresh brings a fresh look and new Drive-E engines.

Consider the 2014 if:

• At $8,057, the 2014 costs less than the current year's $8,959 average.
• It blends style, performance, and comfort with top-notch safety.

The bottom line: The 2015 is the better pick if you want the updated look, newer powertrains, and strong safety and tech credentials. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2014 is the value alternative, especially if you find one with a clean history and good maintenance records.
