What should I look for when buying a used 2015 Volvo S60?

At 68.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle-history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re comparing cars with similar prices. Focus on body condition, signs of prior repair, and whether the car’s equipment and maintenance records match the listing. If you’re shopping a higher-trim example, make sure the added features are working as expected.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The S60 range includes the T5 Drive-E FWD, T5 AWD, T6 Drive-E FWD, and T6 R-Design AWD. The base T5 Drive-E FWD starts the lineup, while the R-Design adds exterior enhancements, a Sport chassis, and interior upgrades.
• Powertrain: Front-wheel-drive versions use the new Drive-E engines with 8-speed Geartronic automatic transmissions, while all-wheel-drive versions continue with proven 5- and 6-cylinder powertrains. The 2.0-liter turbocharged engine is smooth and refined, and the T6 versions add more power if you want stronger acceleration.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes City Safety and Dynamic Stability and Traction Control. Available driver-assistance tech includes Blind-Spot Information System with Cross-Traffic Alert, Collision Warning with Full Auto Brake, and Pedestrian and Cyclist Detection.
• Infotainment: The standard Sensus Connect system uses a 7-inch screen, and Volvo On Call is standard with a WiFi hotspot. The system supports apps and can integrate with a smartphone.
• Fuel efficiency: The Drive-E engine is rated at 25 mpg city/37 highway, and the T6 R-Design AWD is rated at 19/28.

The 2015 Volvo S60 is offered in 4 trim levels: T5 Drive-E FWD, T5 AWD, T6 Drive-E FWD, and T6 R-Design AWD.

Here's the short version:

• T5 Drive-E FWD: This is the starting point and the best-value choice if you want the newest Drive-E powertrain, strong fuel economy, and the core S60 experience without paying for extra performance.
• T5 AWD: Choose this if you want all-wheel drive and the proven 5-cylinder setup, especially if traction matters more to you than maximum efficiency.
• T6 Drive-E FWD: This trim adds the turbo- and supercharged Drive-E engine with 302 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque, making it the right pick if you want more punch without stepping all the way to the top trim.
• T6 R-Design AWD: This is the performance-oriented choice, with 325 hp and 354 lb-ft of torque, plus exterior enhancements, a Sport chassis, and interior upgrades.

What is the 2015 Volvo S60's resale value?

The current average of $8,898 sits slightly below last year's $9,876.

That price movement suggests the S60 has softened, which can help you buy at a more favorable point in the cycle. For a future seller, that also means you should expect resale to depend heavily on condition, mileage, and maintenance history rather than on broad market momentum alone.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2015 Volvo S60 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2015 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2015 if:

• 34.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 68.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.91% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• The 2015.5 update brings a fresh look and new Drive-E engines that renew the range.

Consider the 2014 if:

• At $8,042, the 2014 costs less than the current year's $8,898 average.
• It offers style, performance, and comfort with top-notch safety front and center.

The bottom line: If you want the freshest version of this generation with updated engines and strong value, the 2015 is the better all-around pick. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2014 is the more budget-friendly alternative and still delivers the core S60 strengths.
