How much does the 2015 Volkswagen Beetle cost?

Prices are up 4.23% year-over-year — a sign of continued demand for this model year.

There are 367 listings available, which gives you a modest amount of inventory to compare before you buy.

Is the 2015 Volkswagen Beetle a good car?

Yes — the 2015 Volkswagen Beetle earns a 5/5 user rating and an 8/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Look and feel at 9/10.

Owners consistently praise its style, fuel efficiency, and reliability, and they also like the good value it provides. The overview points to a car with personality and trim flexibility, so you can tailor the Beetle to your needs without paying for features you do not want. That makes it a fit if you want something distinctive rather than purely practical.

With 29.4% of listings priced as good or great deals, you still have some room to shop carefully for value.

Is the 2015 Volkswagen Beetle reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner summary specifically calls out reliability, and it also describes the car as a good-value choice that many drivers enjoy living with over time. On the expert side, the diesel powertrain is described as responsive and not underpowered, with enough torque to make the car feel fun and usable in everyday driving. The cost-effectiveness notes also point to a strong fuel-economy advantage, which can help reduce ownership stress if you drive a lot.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is making sure the specific car has been maintained well and has not picked up hidden wear from age, mileage, or prior damage.

What should I look for when buying a used 2015 Volkswagen Beetle?

At 49.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle-history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has had bodywork or shows uneven panel gaps, paint mismatch, or interior wear. Because this model is a style-first car with a premium price tag, condition matters a lot: you want to confirm that the trim, electronics, and convertible or diesel-specific equipment all work as expected.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base 1.8T comes with heated leatherette seats, cruise control, telescoping steering, a multifunction leather-wrapped steering wheel, a rear spoiler, heated exterior mirrors, and 17-inch Turbine alloy wheels. Higher trims add a rear-view camera, touchscreen sound system, keyless entry with push-button start, Fender premium audio, touchscreen navigation, bi-xenon headlights, and larger alloy wheels, so the base car is the one most likely to feel light on features.
• Powertrain: The lineup includes a 1.8-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder with 170 hp and 184 lb-ft of torque, a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder turbocharged engine with 210 hp and 207 lb-ft of torque, and a 2.0-liter TDI diesel with 150 hp and 236 lb-ft of torque. The diesel is the efficiency play, with very good fuel economy at 30 mpg city/40 highway/34 combined.
• Safety package: The Beetle comes with multiple airbags, automatic rollover support, antilock brakes, electronic stability control, an intelligent crash-response system, and a tire pressure monitoring system. A rear-view camera is not standard but is available on higher trims, as is a blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert.
• Infotainment: The Sound and Navigation setup includes a 5-inch color touchscreen, Bluetooth with audio streaming, SD memory-card reader, and a Media Device Interface with an iPod cable. VW Car-Net adds connected services, and the Fender premium audio system brings 8 speakers and a subwoofer.
• Fuel efficiency: The diesel is rated at 30 mpg city/40 highway/34 combined, and the expert notes say it gets better fuel economy by 3 mpg versus the previous diesel engine.

Which 2015 Volkswagen Beetle trim should I buy?

The 2015 Volkswagen Beetle is offered in 5 trim levels: 1.8T, Tech, Sound and Navigation, Classic, R-Line 2.0T, TDI Clean Diesel, and Premium 1.8T/TDI.

Here's the short version:

• 1.8T: This is the entry point, and it gives you the Beetle’s core style plus heated leatherette seats, cruise control, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and 17-inch wheels. It makes sense if you want the look and basic comfort without stretching for extras.
• Tech: This adds a rear-view camera, touchscreen sound system, and keyless entry with push-button start, so it is the better-value choice if you want everyday convenience without jumping all the way to the pricier audio and navigation trims.
• Sound and Navigation: This trim adds Fender premium audio, touchscreen navigation, and larger wheels, making it the best fit if you care about tech and sound quality more than just the basics.
• Classic: This version leans into the Beetle’s retro personality with unique exterior and interior details, including a special paint-and-roof combination and a checker-pattern cabin treatment. Choose it if style and exclusivity matter most.
• R-Line 2.0T: This is the performance-oriented choice, with the 2.0-liter turbo engine, sport suspension, larger wheels, and R-Line bumpers. It suits you if you want the most energetic gas-powered Beetle.
• TDI Clean Diesel: This is the efficiency-focused pick, with strong torque, a rear-view camera, touchscreen sound system, and keyless access with push-button start. It is the best match if you want the diesel’s fuel economy and responsive feel.
• Premium 1.8T/TDI: This is the top-end choice, bundling leather seating with sport front seats, dual-zone climate control, bi-xenon headlights, touchscreen navigation, and Fender audio. Buy this only if you want the most features and are comfortable paying for them.

The safety content also notes that a rear-view camera is not standard but is available on higher trims, along with blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2015 Volkswagen Beetle?

It is a seller’s market, so you should act selectively and be ready to move when a clean, well-priced car appears.

• Deal availability: 29.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 367 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices are up 4.23% year-over-year.
• Clean inventory: 49.9% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $11,929, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2015 Volkswagen Beetle's resale value?

The current average of $13,420 sits slightly above last year's $12,875.

That upward move suggests the market has been willing to pay a bit more for this model year, which is a positive sign if you plan to sell later. The Beetle’s distinctive styling and strong owner satisfaction can help keep demand steady, especially for clean examples with desirable equipment. If you buy well and keep the car in good condition, you should have a better shot at holding value than you would with a more ordinary compact car.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2015 Volkswagen Beetle safe?

The Beetle received Good marks for all IIHS tests except for Small Overlap Front, which received only a Marginal rating, and it earns a five-star overall rating from NHTSA.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

The Beetle comes with multiple airbags, automatic rollover support, antilock brakes, electronic stability control, an intelligent crash-response system, and a tire pressure monitoring system. VW Car-Net adds roadside assistance, manual emergency call, and automatic crash notifications, which can be a useful safety net if you want extra peace of mind. A rear-view camera is not standard, but it is available on higher trims, along with blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert.

The Marginal small-overlap result is the main caveat to keep in mind when you are comparing used examples.

Should I buy a 2015 Volkswagen Beetle or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2015 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2015 if:

• 29.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 49.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices are up 4.23% year-over-year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2015 model stands out for its three-engine lineup, including a new, more powerful TDI clean diesel that also improves fuel economy.

The bottom line: If you want the Beetle’s retro style, strong owner satisfaction, and a diesel option with good fuel economy, the 2015 is a solid year to target. If you are more price-sensitive, shop carefully for a clean, well-maintained example near the low end of the range and compare it against nearby years before you commit.
