How much does the 2015 Volkswagen Beetle cost?

Prices are up 3.55% year-over-year — a sign of continued demand for this model year.

There are 373 listings available, which gives you a workable amount of inventory to compare prices and equipment.

Is the 2015 Volkswagen Beetle a good car?

Yes — 5/5 owners rate it, and the expert rating is 8.00/10. The standout strength is Look and feel at 9/10.

Owners consistently praise its retro style, fuel efficiency, and reliability, and they also call out the good value it provides. The overview points to a car with personality and trim flexibility, so you can tailor the Beetle to your needs without paying for features you do not want. That makes it a fit if you want something distinctive rather than purely practical.

With 33.0% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a decent chance of finding a competitive price if you shop carefully.

Is the 2015 Volkswagen Beetle reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner summary highlights reliability alongside style and fuel efficiency, and it also suggests the car can be a dependable choice for shoppers who want a distinctive daily driver. The expert performance notes add that the diesel version feels responsive thanks to its torque, with only slight lag and a spirited highway character. Cost-effectiveness notes also point to strong fuel economy, which supports the case for lower running costs.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is making sure the specific car you choose has been maintained well and does not have hidden wear from prior use.

What should I look for when buying a used 2015 Volkswagen Beetle?

At 49.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has had bodywork or shows uneven panel gaps, paint mismatch, or interior wear. Focus on condition first, because the Beetle’s appeal is tied closely to how well it has been cared for. If you are comparing multiple listings, the cleanest example is usually worth paying more for.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base model includes heated leatherette seats, cruise control, telescoping steering, a multifunction leather-wrapped steering wheel, a rear spoiler, heated exterior mirrors, and 17-inch alloy wheels. Higher trims add a rear-view camera, touchscreen sound system, keyless entry with push-button start, Fender premium audio, touchscreen navigation, bi-xenon headlights, and larger alloy wheels.
• Powertrain: The lineup includes a 1.8-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder with 170 hp, a 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder with 210 hp, and a 2.0-liter TDI diesel with 150 hp and 236 lb-ft of torque. The diesel is the efficiency-focused choice and is described as responsive, especially on the highway.
• Safety package: The car comes with multiple airbags, automatic rollover support, antilock brakes, electronic stability control, an intelligent crash-response system, and a tire pressure monitoring system. A rear-view camera and blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert are available on higher trims.
• Infotainment: The navigation setup uses a 5-inch color display with an SD memory-card reader, and Bluetooth audio streaming is included. The upgraded Fender system adds 8 speakers and a subwoofer, and VW Car-Net adds connected services.
• Fuel efficiency: The diesel is rated at 30 mpg city/40 highway/34 combined, and the expert notes say it can return very good fuel economy.

Which 2015 Volkswagen Beetle trim should I buy?

The 2015 Volkswagen Beetle is offered in 5 trim levels: 1.8T, Tech, Sound and Navigation, R-Line 2.0T, TDI Clean Diesel.

Here's the short version:

• 1.8T: This is the entry point, and it gives you the core Beetle experience with heated leatherette seats, cruise control, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and 17-inch alloy wheels. It is the trim to consider if you want the Beetle’s style at the lowest starting point.
• Tech: This adds a rear-view camera, touchscreen sound system, and keyless entry with push-button start, making it a smarter everyday choice than the base trim. It is the best-value pick if you want a meaningful equipment upgrade without jumping too far up the range.
• Sound and Navigation: This trim adds Fender premium audio, touchscreen navigation, and larger alloy wheels. Choose it if you care more about tech and audio than keeping the price down.
• R-Line 2.0T: This is the performance-oriented choice, with the 2.0-liter turbo engine, sport suspension, larger wheels, and R-Line bumpers. It suits you if you want the most energetic gas-powered Beetle.
• TDI Clean Diesel: This is the efficiency-focused trim, with the diesel engine, rear-view camera, touchscreen sound system, and keyless access with push-button start. It is the best fit if you want strong torque and better fuel economy.

The safety package note is simple: the rear-view camera and blind-spot monitor are not standard across the lineup, so check the exact trim before you buy.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2015 Volkswagen Beetle?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you should shop with a clear target and be ready to move when you find the right car.

• Deal availability: 33.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 373 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices are up 3.55% year-over-year.
• Clean inventory: 49.9% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $11,918, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2015 Volkswagen Beetle's resale value?

The current average of $13,326 sits slightly above last year's $12,870.

That upward move suggests the market has been willing to pay a bit more for this model year, which is a positive sign if you plan to sell later. The Beetle’s distinctive styling and strong owner satisfaction help keep it on shoppers’ radar, especially when the car is in clean condition and priced competitively. If you maintain it well and keep records, you should be in a better position to preserve value.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2015 Volkswagen Beetle safe?

The Volkswagen Beetle earns Good ratings from IIHS in all tests except Small Overlap Front, which receives a Marginal rating, and it earns a five-star overall rating from NHTSA.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

The Beetle comes with multiple airbags, automatic rollover support, antilock brakes, electronic stability control, an intelligent crash-response system, and a tire pressure monitoring system. A rear-view camera is available on higher trims, as is a blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert. VW Car-Net also adds roadside assistance, manual emergency call, and automatic crash notifications.

The main caveat is the Marginal Small Overlap Front result, so you should pay close attention to crash protection and repair history when shopping used examples.

Should I buy a 2015 Volkswagen Beetle or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2015 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2015 if:

• 33.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 49.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices are up 3.55% year-over-year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2015 model year stands out for its three-engine lineup, including a new, more powerful TDI clean diesel that also improves fuel economy.

The bottom line: If you want the Beetle’s retro style, strong owner satisfaction, and a broad trim range, the 2015 is the right year to target. If you are more price-sensitive, you may want to compare nearby years and focus on the cleanest, best-priced example rather than chasing a specific badge or trim.
