How much does the 2015 Toyota Tacoma cost?

Prices have softened 2.58% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,516 listings available, which gives you a meaningful pool to compare prices and equipment.

Is the 2015 Toyota Tacoma a good car?

Generally — 4.3/5. The Tacoma’s 6/10 expert score and 8/10 marks for look and feel and cost effectiveness point to a truck that makes sense if you want a rugged, purpose-built pickup. Owners repeatedly praise its reliability, rugged look, powerful engine, comfort, and spaciousness, while the overview frames it as especially appealing if you want a truck aimed at rough terrain rather than broad family duty. That said, the same data also points to limited technology and a less versatile personality than many shoppers want. 31.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so you still have room to shop carefully.

Is the 2015 Toyota Tacoma reliable?

Owners rate it 4.3/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owners also describe it as reliable, and the review summary highlights its dependable character along with its rugged appeal and strong engine. The expert notes reinforce that theme by calling it a durable machine and emphasizing its reliability and dependability. Toyota’s maintenance-friendly ownership reputation is also supported by the truck’s value-retention strength. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that age and hard use can matter more here than on a newer, more refined truck, so condition checks are important.

What should I look for when buying a used 2015 Toyota Tacoma?

At 59.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the truck has been used off-road or for towing. Focus on signs of wear that can come from hard use, and pay close attention to the truck’s condition rather than assuming every example has been treated gently.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The TRD Pro stands out with off-road hardware, including an electronically locking rear differential, hill-start assist control, downhill assist control, bead-lock-style wheels, knobby all-terrain tires, upgraded suspension, and a higher stance. It also adds TRD-badged interior bits, but the cabin still leans heavily on cheap gray plastic, so you should judge whether the hardware matters more to you than interior polish.
• Powertrain: The truck centers on a 4.0-liter V6, and the TRD supercharger raises output substantially. The performance notes also make clear that the truck is not especially refined on-road, with numb steering, clumsy brake modulation, and a high center of gravity.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes 6 airbags and Smart Stop Technology. The truck also has an optional reversing camera, and the TRD Pro adds downhill assistance control for steep trails. The safety content also notes that the truck’s protection for the front passenger in a frontal-impact collision rates just 3 stars.
• Infotainment: The standard setup uses a 6.1-inch touchscreen with USB 2.0, Bluetooth pairing, and music streaming. The TRD Pro adds Entune App Suite smartphone integration, a reversing camera, navigation, a JBL premium sound system, advanced voice recognition, satellite radio, predictive traffic and weather reports, and HD Radio.
• Fuel efficiency: The TRD Pro averaged just 15.1 mpg in testing, and the cost-effectiveness notes say 18 mpg from the 4.0-liter V6 is not very impressive.

Which 2015 Toyota Tacoma trim should I buy?

The 2015 Toyota Tacoma is offered in 1 trim level: TRD Pro.

Here's the short version:

The TRD Pro is the clear choice if you want the Tacoma’s most off-road-focused setup. It adds the suspension, tires, locking rear differential, and trail-oriented hardware that define this truck’s personality, along with the richer tech package and distinctive appearance. It is the right pick if you care most about rough-terrain capability and can live with the truck’s age and limited everyday polish.

The safety package is still basic by modern standards, so you should verify condition carefully even if the trim looks appealing.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2015 Toyota Tacoma?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory and deal activity to reward patience.

• Deal availability: 31.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,516 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.58% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 59.9% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $19,436, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2015 Toyota Tacoma's resale value?

The current average of $20,256 sits slightly below last year's $20,793.

That softer pricing can help you buy more confidently now, but it also suggests the truck has already absorbed some of its recent value movement. If you plan to sell later, the Tacoma’s reputation for durability and owner satisfaction should help support demand. The truck’s strong identity as a rugged, purpose-built pickup also tends to keep it attractive to the right used-truck shoppers.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.3/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2015 Toyota Tacoma safe?

The 2015 Toyota Tacoma earns a four-star overall rating from NHTSA, with 3-star protection for the front passenger in a frontal-impact collision and a 4-star rollover resistance rating for the standard 4WD Double Cab.

It earns a 3/10 safety score from our experts.

The safety content points to 6 standard airbags and Smart Stop Technology, with an optional reversing camera and downhill assistance control on the TRD Pro. The truck also earns Good ratings in IIHS crash testing, though it has not been tested for small overlap frontal protection, and the roof crush strength rating is Marginal. That combination means you should not assume modern crash protection just because the truck feels rugged.

Should I buy a 2015 Toyota Tacoma or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2015 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2015 if:

• 31.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 59.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.58% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.3/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• The 2015 stands out as the final-year Tacoma before a redesign, with a limited-production TRD Pro that sharpens its off-road focus.

Consider the 2016 if:

• At $23,403, the 2016 costs more than the current year's $20,256 average.
• The redesign brings a broader, more modern Tacoma lineup with more configuration flexibility.

The bottom line: If you want the most affordable path into a rugged, final-year Tacoma with a strong enthusiast identity, the 2015 makes sense. If you want a newer redesign and are willing to pay more, the 2016 is the better long-term alternative. Price-sensitive buyers should focus on the 2015, while shoppers who want the newer truck should compare carefully against the next year.

How does the 2015 Toyota Tacoma compare to the 2015 Ford F-150?

Our experts score the 2015 Toyota Tacoma 6/10 and the 2015 Ford F-150 8.8/10. The Tacoma is the more specialized truck, with a stronger off-road identity and a lower average used price, while the F-150 brings more power and a broader appeal. The Tacoma also has fewer listings, so your shopping pool is smaller. If you want a purpose-built midsize truck, the Tacoma fits; if you want a more capable full-size pickup with stronger overall expert approval, the F-150 is the better bet.
