How much does the 2015 Toyota Prius cost?

Prices are up 4.26% year-over-year — a sign of continued demand for this model year.

There are 696 listings available, which gives you a decent amount of inventory to compare before you buy.

Is the 2015 Toyota Prius a good car?

Yes — 4.7/5 from owners and 7.33/10 from our experts. The model scores 9/10 across Form and function, Cost effectiveness, and Technology.

Owners consistently praise its excellent fuel economy, spacious interior, comfort, smooth ride, and Toyota’s reliability. For everyday transportation, that combination makes it especially appealing if you want a practical commuter that keeps running costs low. The market also shows 35.5% of listings as good or great deals, which suggests there are still worthwhile opportunities if you shop carefully.

Is the 2015 Toyota Prius reliable?

Owners rate it 4.7/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to Toyota’s reliability, and the expert material reinforces that with strong dependability language and very low ownership costs. You also get free scheduled maintenance for the first 2 years or 25,000 miles of ownership, which helps reduce early ownership expense. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about day-to-day durability and more about finding a well-kept example that hasn’t been neglected.

What should I look for when buying a used 2015 Toyota Prius?

At 51.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has higher mileage or visible wear. Focus on condition, maintenance records, and whether the cabin and electronics still feel intact, since owner feedback mentions frustration with the audio system and bulky center console design. If you’re comparing multiple listings, give extra weight to cars with cleaner histories and evidence of regular care.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Prius is sold in Two, Three, Four, and Five trims, and higher trims add more technology and convenience. The base trim is the most stripped-down, while upper trims bring features like navigation, expanded Smart Key functionality, a heads-up display, premium audio, and Toyota’s Safety Connect service.
• Powertrain: It uses a 1.8-liter, 4-cylinder hybrid setup with an electric drive motor and a continuously variable automatic transmission. The car can run on electricity alone at low speeds for short distances, and the powertrain is tuned more for efficiency than quick acceleration.
• Safety package: The available Advanced Technology Package adds lane-departure warning, adaptive cruise control, and pre-collision warning and braking. Safety Connect is restricted to the Four and Five trims, and blind-spot warning is not offered.
• Infotainment: Higher trims add navigation, Entune App Suite, and expanded Smart Key functionality. The Five trim also gets a heads-up display, and the system includes smartphone-connected apps plus advanced voice recognition.
• Fuel efficiency: The expert material cites 51 mpg city/48 highway/50 combined, and a week of driving returned 41.3 mpg.

Which 2015 Toyota Prius trim should I buy?

The 2015 Toyota Prius is offered in 4 trim levels: Two, Three, Four, Five.

Here's the short version:

• Two: This is the simplest way into the Prius lineup, so it makes sense if you want the lowest-cost path to the Prius’s core fuel-saving appeal and don’t need extra tech.
• Three: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds navigation, Entune App Suite, and expanded Smart Key functionality without jumping all the way to the pricier upper trims.
• Four: Choose this if you want a more upscale experience, since it can be optioned with a deluxe solar roof package, heads-up display, premium audio, upgraded navigation, and Safety Connect.
• Five: This is the most feature-rich version, with exclusive LED headlights standard and the available Advanced Technology Package adding dynamic cruise control, pre-collision assist, and lane-keeping assist.

Safety Connect is restricted to the Four and Five trims, and blind-spot warning is not offered.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2015 Toyota Prius?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but still move quickly on the right car.

• Deal availability: 35.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 696 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices are up 4.26% year-over-year.
• Clean inventory: 51.7% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $11,401, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2015 Toyota Prius's resale value?

The current average of $12,517 sits slightly above last year's $12,005.

That upward move suggests the market has held up reasonably well for this model year, which can help support resale if you buy at the right price. The Prius also benefits from strong owner satisfaction and a reputation for efficiency, both of which can keep demand steady when you eventually sell. Even so, the model’s resale strength is still shaped by condition, mileage, and whether the car has a clean history.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.7/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2015 Toyota Prius safe?

The 2015 Toyota Prius earns a Top Safety Pick commendation from IIHS and a four-star overall rating from NHTSA.

It earns a 5/10 safety score from our experts.

Toyota’s Safety Connect system includes automatic collision notification and emergency assistance, but it’s limited to the Four and Five trims. The available Advanced Technology Package adds lane-departure warning, adaptive cruise control, and pre-collision warning and braking. A notable shortcoming is that blind-spot warning is not offered at any price.

Should I buy a 2015 Toyota Prius or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2015 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2015 if:

• 35.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 51.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices are up 4.26% year-over-year.
• Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It remains a strong everyday commuter with excellent fuel economy, a spacious interior, and a smooth ride.

Consider the 2016 if:

• At $15,213, the 2016 costs more than the current year's $12,517 average.
• It enters a new generation with many familiar hallmarks and a few new tricks.

The bottom line: If you want the better value today, the 2015 is the smarter buy because it combines strong owner satisfaction, solid efficiency, and a lower average price. If you’re willing to pay more for the next model year’s redesign, the 2016 is the better path for buyers who want the newer-generation Prius experience.
