How much does the 2015 RAM 1500 cost?

Prices have softened 7.55% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 4,676 listings available, which suggests you have a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2015 RAM 1500 a good car?

With a user rating of 3.9/5 and an expert rating of 7.7/10, the 2015 RAM 1500 lands in the strong-but-selective-buy category. The model scores 8/10 across Look and feel, Form and function, Cost effectiveness, and Safety.

Owners most often praise its comfort, luxury features, powerful performance, and enjoyable driving experience. The overview also points to a broad cabin range, so you can shop this truck as either a work-focused pickup or a more upscale daily driver.

The market backs up that appeal with 30.0% of listings marked as good or great deals, so there are opportunities if you shop carefully.

Is the 2015 RAM 1500 reliable?

The 2015 RAM 1500 is presented as a truck that has aged well, and owners frequently describe it as dependable, comfortable, and enjoyable to live with. The owner feedback also highlights strong towing efficiency and long-term satisfaction for many drivers.

The expert evaluation adds that the V6 and 8-speed automatic are “entirely unnoticeable,” which is a good sign for smooth, trouble-free operation. The diesel option is also described as a strong choice if you want fewer fill-ups, though its higher price means you need to drive enough to justify it.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that some listings may bring engine concerns, rust, or neglected maintenance history.

What should I look for when buying a used 2015 RAM 1500?

At 64.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially on trucks with higher mileage or visible wear. Focus on body condition, rust, and evidence of past repairs, since those are the kinds of issues that can affect long-term ownership costs.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The cabin range stretches from work truck to luxe cruiser, and the least expensive trims are more spartan than the higher-end versions. The 8.4-inch Uconnect touchscreen is optional in most trims and standard above the Outdoorsman, so base models can feel much simpler.
• Powertrain: The 3.6-liter V6 makes 305 hp and is paired with an 8-speed automatic in most trucks. The 5.7-liter Hemi V8 makes 395 hp, while the 3.0-liter EcoDiesel is the efficiency-focused choice and is described as smooth and attractive for buyers who want fewer fill-ups.
• Safety package: The truck includes standard airbags, pretensioning seatbelts, antilock brakes, brake assist, and electronic stability control with trailer sway control. Blind-spot monitoring, a backup camera, and front and rear parking sensors are available, with parking sensors standard on Laramie Editions.
• Infotainment: Most trims can be fitted with an optional 8.4-inch Uconnect touchscreen, and the truck also offers a 7-inch multifunction instrument display. Less expensive trims can have more basic systems.
• Fuel efficiency: The V6 is rated at 17 mpg city/25 highway in rear-wheel drive, while the EcoDiesel reaches 20/28 mpg in rear-wheel drive and 19/27 mpg in four-wheel drive. The Hemi returns 15/22 mpg in rear-wheel drive and 15/21 mpg in four-wheel drive.

Which 2015 RAM 1500 trim should I buy?

The 2015 RAM 1500 is offered in 10 trim levels: Tradesman, Express, HFE, SLT, Big Horn/Lone Star, Outdoorsman, Sport, R/T, Laramie, Laramie Longhorn, and Laramie Limited.

Here's the short version:

• Tradesman: This is the work-site fleet choice, so it makes sense if you want the lowest-cost path into the lineup and do not need much luxury equipment.
• Express: This is the next step up from the Tradesman and still keeps the truck on the simpler, more utilitarian side.
• HFE: This trim is the efficiency-focused pick, and for 2015 it offers the diesel engine that can return 29 mpg on the highway.
• SLT: This is a popular pick for buyers and a sensible middle-ground choice if you want a more balanced truck without jumping too far up the price ladder.
• Big Horn/Lone Star: This is the consumer volume model with a few more available content upgrades than the SLT, making it the best-value trim for many shoppers.
• Outdoorsman: This trim sits above the mainstream volume models and is a good fit if you want a more specialized truck without going all the way to luxury territory.
• Sport: This trim is aimed at niche truck buyers and adds a more distinctive personality.
• R/T: This is the performance-oriented option within the Sport trim and gets 22-inch wheels this year.
• Laramie: This is the first of the luxury trims and suits you if you want a more upscale daily driver.
• Laramie Longhorn: This is another luxury-focused choice for buyers who want a more premium cabin and appearance.
• Laramie Limited: This is the top luxury pick and the best fit if you want the most upscale Ram 1500 experience.

The safety package is strongest on higher trims, since front and rear parking sensors are standard on Laramie Editions.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2015 RAM 1500?

This is a moderate, selective-buyer market, so you have room to shop, but the best listings still deserve quick attention.

• Deal availability: 30.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 4,676 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.55% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 64.8% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $15,768, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2015 RAM 1500's resale value?

The current average of $15,768 sits slightly below last year's $17,056.

That decline suggests the truck is currently in a softer pricing phase, which can help you buy more truck for the money today. For a future seller, it also means resale value may be more sensitive to condition, mileage, and trim than it would be in a stronger market.

If you keep the truck well maintained and choose a desirable configuration, you should be in a better position to protect value. Higher-mileage or rough-condition examples may need sharper pricing to move later.

Is the 2015 RAM 1500 safe?

The 2015 RAM 1500 earns a four-star overall rating from NHTSA, including four-star ratings in front crashes and five-star ratings in side impacts.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Ram’s safety setup includes standard airbags, pretensioning seatbelts, antilock brakes, brake assist, and electronic stability control with trailer sway control. Blind-spot monitoring is available, the backup camera is highlighted as especially useful, and front and rear parking sensors are optional on most trims and standard on Laramie Editions.

One caveat is that the truck’s safety story leans heavily on available equipment and size, so you should pay close attention to which driver-assistance features are actually fitted on the listing you’re considering.

Should I buy a 2015 RAM 1500 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2015 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2015 if:

• 30.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 64.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.55% compared with last year.
• The 2015 stands out for its handsome looks, strong cabin comfort, and two great powertrain options.

Consider the 2016 if:

• At $17,414, the 2016 costs more than the current year's $15,768 average.
• It adds a more luxurious Limited trim and an even stronger upscale focus.

The bottom line: If you want the better value and a broad range of trims, the 2015 is the smarter starting point. If your priority is maximum luxury and you can stretch your budget, the 2016 is the more upscale alternative.

How does the 2015 RAM 1500 compare to the 2015 Ford F-150?

Our experts score the 2015 RAM 1500 7.7/10 and the 2015 Ford F-150 8.8/10. The Ford earns the higher expert score, but the Ram counters with a lower average used price and a stronger value proposition for shoppers focused on comfort and cabin appeal. The F-150 has slightly better city fuel economy and a larger listing pool, while the Ram offers more horsepower and a more upscale-feeling interior in many trims.
