What should I look for when buying a used 2015 Nissan Rogue?

At 51.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially if the listing price looks unusually attractive. Focus on overall condition, signs of prior bodywork, and whether the equipment and trim level match the seller’s description. Because the Rogue’s safety record is a concern, you should be especially careful about how the vehicle was maintained and whether any warning systems or safety equipment are present and functioning.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: Base S models include keyless entry, LED running lights, a tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, a 5-inch display with rear-view camera, and USB and auxiliary audio inputs. The SV adds alloy wheels, roof rails, a 6-way power driver’s seat, dual-zone automatic climate control, and NissanConnect, while the SL adds heated leather seats, heated mirrors, voice control, a power liftgate, a 7-inch touchscreen, navigation, and an 8-speaker Bose stereo. The optional third row is available on S and SV, while the SL is a 5-seater only.
• Powertrain: You get a single 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with a continuously variable transmission, plus front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. The setup is described as underpowered and noisy, though the ride and suspension are confident.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes stability and traction control, 4-wheel discs, a rear-view camera, and hill-start assist. AWD adds hill-descent control. The Premium Package adds blind-spot, lane-departure, forward-collision, and moving-object detection warnings, and the SL with that package also gets auto-leveling LED headlights.
• Infotainment: Base models use a 5-inch display, while the SL gets a 7-inch touchscreen with navigation and the Around View camera system. NissanConnect is included on the SV, and Bluetooth is part of the base setup.
• Fuel efficiency: The AWD model is described as returning 25 mpg city/32 highway/28 combined, and the expert notes that Eco mode can improve efficiency on longer highway-heavy drives.

Which 2015 Nissan Rogue trim should I buy?

The 2015 Nissan Rogue is offered in 3 trim levels: S, SV, SL.

Here's the short version:

• S: This is the value play if you want the Rogue’s core strengths at the lowest entry point. You still get keyless entry, LED running lights, a rear-view camera, and the basic infotainment setup, and it’s also one of the trims that can be fitted with the optional third row.
• SV: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds the features that make the Rogue feel more complete, including alloy wheels, roof rails, dual-zone climate control, a power driver’s seat, and NissanConnect. It can also be equipped with the optional third row and the Around View camera system.
• SL: This is the trim to choose if you want the most comfort and convenience equipment, including heated leather seats, a power liftgate, the 7-inch touchscreen, navigation, and the Bose audio system. It is only offered as a 5-seater.

If safety equipment matters most, the Premium Package is the key upgrade to look for because it adds blind-spot, lane-departure, forward-collision, and moving-object warnings.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2015 Nissan Rogue?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 30.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,050 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.85% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 51.7% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $9,296, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2015 Nissan Rogue's resale value?

The current average of $9,296 sits slightly below last year's $9,769.

That downward move suggests the Rogue has become a more buyer-friendly used purchase, but it also means future sellers may face some price pressure if the market keeps softening. If you buy well now and keep the vehicle in strong condition, you can help protect your eventual trade-in or resale position. The current pricing also suggests there is still demand, just at a more competitive level than a year ago.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.9/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2015 Nissan Rogue safe?

The 2015 Nissan Rogue earns an overall four-star rating from NHTSA, with five-star ratings in side crashes, four-star ratings in rollover, and three-star and two-star ratings in frontal crash tests for the driver and passenger, respectively.

It earns a 4/10 safety score from our experts.

The Rogue’s standard safety equipment includes stability and traction control, 4-wheel discs, a rear-view camera, and hill-start assist, with hill-descent control added on AWD models. If you want more advanced driver assistance, the Premium Package adds blind-spot, lane-departure, forward-collision, and moving-object detection warnings.

The main caveat is the weak frontal-crash performance, which is the biggest reason safety-conscious used buyers should look closely at other options or insist on a well-equipped example.

Should I buy a 2015 Nissan Rogue or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2015 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2015 if:

• 30.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 51.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.85% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.9/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2015 Rogue stands out as a polished, mature crossover with a more refined look after its redesign.

Consider the 2014 if:

• At $8,346, the 2014 costs less than the current year's $9,296 average.
• It offers a strong value proposition with available safety equipment and a practical, user-friendly character.

The bottom line: If you want the better-balanced shopping target, the 2015 is the safer pick because it combines softer pricing with a more refined design and strong owner satisfaction. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2014 is the more budget-friendly alternative, especially if you find one in good condition.

How does the 2015 Nissan Rogue compare to the 2015 Honda CR-V?

Our experts score the 2015 Nissan Rogue 6.5/10 and the 2015 Honda CR-V 8.5/10.

The Rogue is the cheaper used buy by a wide margin, and it also offers a more upscale feel than its price might suggest. The CR-V counters with stronger overall expert approval, more power, better fuel economy, and a larger pool of listings. If you want the lower purchase price and can live with the Rogue’s weaker drivetrain and safety drawbacks, the Nissan makes sense; if you want the more well-rounded compact SUV, the Honda is the stronger choice.
