Summary
With 77 currently listed for sale near Tacoma, WA and an average price of $17,118, 31.2% of 2015 Toyota RAV4s for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2015 Toyota RAV4 4.88 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it a 7.33 / 10.

Why it stands out
The 2015 Toyota RAV4 stands out for combining perky drivability, high fuel economy, and pack-anything levels of cargo space in a reasonably appealing package. That mix makes it easy to see why it remains attractive to buyers who want a compact crossover SUV that is practical without feeling dull.
It is also helped by improved crash-test ratings, which elevate its stature among the members of the species. At the same time, it lacks the va-va-voom necessary to recommend it over many other excellent vehicles in the class, so its appeal is more about well-rounded usefulness than excitement.

The RAV4 drives great and has most of the features I wanted. The only things I would add is rear air conditioning and cross bars on the roof rack. It drives smooth and gets incredible gas mileage for an AWD vehicle. Im quite happy with my purchase and cant wait for the first big roadtrip!

How much does the 2015 Toyota RAV4 cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $14,851 |
| Year-Round Low | $13,928 |
| Year-Round High | $14,964 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $14,641 |
| Change vs. Last Year | +1.43% |
Prices are up 1.43% year-over-year — a sign of continued demand for this model year.
There are 1,970 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of options to compare.
Is the 2015 Toyota RAV4 a good car?
Yes — the 4.88/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction, and the expert score is 7.33/10. The model scores 9/10 across Form and function and Cost effectiveness.
Owners consistently praise its reliability, spaciousness, and impressive fuel economy, and they also call out good handling and a comfortable ride. That lines up with the overview: you’re looking at a compact crossover that emphasizes practical usefulness, cargo space, and everyday drivability more than excitement.
With 30.1% of listings marked as good or great deals, you still have room to shop selectively.
Is the 2015 Toyota RAV4 reliable?
Owners rate it 4.88/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
User feedback repeatedly points to reliability, and the ownership experience is also described as dependable and trouble-free. The expert evaluation reinforces that theme by noting that trouble is unlikely and that major reliability and quality ratings are strong.
You also get free scheduled maintenance for the first 2 years or 25,000 miles of ownership, which helps reduce early ownership costs. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is making sure a specific vehicle has been maintained well and hasn’t accumulated hidden wear.
What should I look for when buying a used 2015 Toyota RAV4?
At 53.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
Start with a vehicle history report so you can screen for prior damage, title issues, and inconsistent mileage. Then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the listing price looks unusually attractive. Focus your walkaround on body condition, panel alignment, tire wear, and signs that the cabin or controls have seen heavy use.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: Toyota offers the RAV4 in three trim levels: LE, XLE, and Limited. The cabin is described as simple and handsome, but the base trim misses some of the nicer touches and tech found higher up the range, so you should compare equipment carefully if you want a more polished feel.
- Powertrain: Every RAV4 uses a 176-hp, 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine with a 6-speed automatic transmission. It’s peppy and refined, but it can feel a bit underpowered from a stop, so test the throttle response if you care about quick merging or passing.
- Safety package: Every version gets a rear-view camera. Blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and lane-departure warning are tied to the optional Technology Package on the Limited trim, while active cruise control and active braking are unavailable.
- Infotainment: The available Entune setup uses a 6.1-inch touchscreen and includes smartphone-app features, but the interface can be frustrating to use. The system also lacks the kind of advanced convenience features many shoppers expect today.
- Fuel efficiency: The RAV4 is estimated at 25 mpg in combined driving, and the expert evaluation notes 26 mpg during highway-heavy use.
Which 2015 Toyota RAV4 trim should I buy?
The 2015 Toyota RAV4 is offered in 3 trim levels: LE, XLE, and Limited.
Here's the short version:
- LE: This is the simplest way into the RAV4 lineup, so it makes sense if you want the core strengths — space, efficiency, and everyday usability — without paying for extras you may not need.
- XLE: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds a more appealing mix of equipment while staying below the top trim’s price. It’s the sweet spot if you want a nicer daily driver without stretching to the Limited.
- Limited: Choose this if you want the most upscale RAV4 experience and you’re specifically shopping for the available Technology Package. That package brings blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and lane-departure warning, but it’s only available on this trim.
The safety-package features are limited to the Limited trim, so if those driver-assistance items matter to you, start there.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2015 Toyota RAV4?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but should move quickly on strong listings.
- Deal availability: 30.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 1,970 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices are up 1.43% year-over-year.
- Clean inventory: 53.9% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $13,928, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2015 Toyota RAV4's resale value?
The current average of $14,851 sits slightly above last year's $14,641.
That modest increase suggests the market has held up reasonably well for this model year. If you own one, that kind of pricing stability can help support resale confidence, especially when demand remains steady and inventory is still active.
The RAV4’s strong cost-effectiveness story also helps: buyers tend to value practical crossovers with good fuel economy and low ownership costs. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.88/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2015 Toyota RAV4 safe?
The 2015 RAV4 earns a Top Safety Pick rating from IIHS and a four-star overall crash-test rating from NHTSA, with a three-star protection rating for the front passenger in the frontal-impact assessment.
It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.
Every version gets a rear-view camera, which helps with reversing. If you want blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, or lane-departure warning, you need the optional Technology Package on the Limited trim. Active cruise control and active braking are not available.
That passenger-side frontal result is the main caveat to keep in mind, so safety-minded used buyers should pay close attention to trim and equipment rather than assuming every RAV4 is equally well equipped.
Should I buy a 2015 Toyota RAV4 or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2015 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2015 if:
- 30.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 53.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices are up 1.43% year-over-year.
- Owners rate it 4.88/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- Improved crash-test ratings elevate this year’s standing.
Consider the 2014 if:
- At $13,900, the 2014 costs less than the current year's $14,851 average.
- It emphasizes practical utility, dependable ownership, and class-leading cargo capacity.
The bottom line: if you want the stronger all-around package, the 2015 is the better pick because it combines solid owner satisfaction, improved safety, and stable pricing. If your priority is saving money upfront, the 2014 is the better value play, especially if you find one in clean condition with a strong maintenance history.
