Why it stands out
The 2015 Mercedes-Benz S-Class stands out as a full-size luxury sedan that blends advanced technology with a deeply polished sense of craftsmanship. In the W222 generation, Mercedes gave the car a new aluminum hybrid body shell that significantly cut weight and improved rigidity, and the redesign also brought the first world-exclusive use of LEDs over traditional bulbs, with 500 light units throughout the interior and exterior. The cabin was a major part of the appeal, with wood and metal accents, selectable ambient lighting, and a layout that made the car feel especially upscale even by S-Class standards.
For 2015, Mercedes expanded the lineup with the S 550e plug-in hybrid, the revived S 600, and the AMG S 65. The S 550e made 329 system horsepower and offered 14 miles of electric range, while the S 600 made 523 horsepower and 612 pound-feet of torque and the S 65 delivered 621 horses and 738 pound-feet. That breadth of powertrains helped make the 2015 S-Class appealing to buyers who wanted either efficiency, effortless V12 luxury, or serious performance in the same nameplate.
It was also loaded with the kind of equipment that helped define the model’s reputation. The W222 brought adaptive cruise control with a stop function, forward automatic emergency braking, lane keeping assist, night vision, a rearview camera, and a digital instrument cluster, along with features such as self-closing doors and a power panoramic roof. The tradeoff is that many of the best features were optional, and ownership can still be expensive, with maintenance costs that can be steep. Owners also praise the smooth ride, powerful performance, and high-quality interior, though some note the price and the lack of cooled seats.

This model is particularly a great S-Class version. It is so much better than the successor model S. The features are pretty much the same but having the tactile models and not a giant Ipad in the middle made the car so much more user friendly. I hope the next version reverts back to tactile buttons and not all of these haptics that just do not work. It is a card with an excellent ride and the sound system is top notch. I have never really had a smooth quieter ride than the S Class Mercedes.

The Mercedes-Benz S Class is my favorite vehicle. This particular vehicle attracted me with the very low mileage and one owner which is a rare combination (low mileage, one owner, low price). The only thing this car is missing is me in the driver seat.

How much does the 2015 Mercedes-Benz S-Class cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $25,005 |
| Year-Round Low | $24,821 |
| Year-Round High | $26,949 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $26,939 |
| Change vs. Last Year | −7.18% |
Prices have softened 7.18% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.
There are 887 listings available, which gives you a solid pool to compare prices and equipment.
Is the 2015 Mercedes-Benz S-Class a good car?
Yes — the 4.95/5 user rating points to very strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise the luxurious features, smooth ride, powerful performance, high-quality interior, and advanced technology, and they often compare it favorably with ultra-luxury brands. For you, that means this model makes the most sense if you want a full-size luxury sedan that emphasizes comfort, craftsmanship, and a premium driving experience. With 32.8% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still room to shop selectively.
Is the 2015 Mercedes-Benz S-Class reliable?
Owners rate it 4.95/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The owner feedback points to a car that feels dependable in daily use, with praise centered on its smooth ride, refined performance, and trouble-free luxury experience. The same feedback also suggests that buyers tend to count on its upscale cabin and advanced technology over the long haul. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about the driving experience and more about the cost of keeping a complex luxury sedan in top condition.
What should I look for when buying a used 2015 Mercedes-Benz S-Class?
At 58.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report so you can separate clean examples from cars with prior damage. After that, prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on the condition of the suspension, electronics, and other high-cost systems that matter most on a luxury sedan like this. It also helps to compare service records carefully, since a well-maintained example is usually the safer buy.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2015 Mercedes-Benz S-Class?
This is a moderate market, so you can be selective without expecting a deep bargain on every listing.
- Deal availability: 32.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 887 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 7.18% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 58.5% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $24,821, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2015 Mercedes-Benz S-Class's resale value?
The current average of $25,005 sits slightly below last year's $26,939.
That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you as a buyer but may limit upside if you plan to resell soon. For a future seller, the key takeaway is that this model still has appeal, but its value is being shaped by age, luxury-car ownership costs, and the market's willingness to pay for a highly equipped flagship sedan. Well-kept examples with strong service history should hold up better than neglected ones.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.95/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2015 Mercedes-Benz S-Class or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2015 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2015 if:
- 32.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 58.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 7.18% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.95/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
The bottom line: You should focus on the 2015 if you want the strongest mix of owner satisfaction, current pricing, and available inventory in this model-year window. If you are especially price-sensitive, you can use the softer market to shop carefully and target the cleanest, best-documented example rather than stretching for the cheapest listing.
