How much does the 2015 Kia Sportage cost?

Prices have softened 4.37% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 356 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2015 Kia Sportage a good car?

Yes — you’re looking at a 4.7/5 user-rated SUV with an expert score of 7/10. The standout strength is Technology at 9/10.

Owners consistently praise its excellent value, sporty handling, and strong performance, and many also like the comfort and features in the higher trims. The Sportage also fits well if you want a stylish, practical, affordable compact crossover that still feels relevant for everyday use. If you’re shopping for a compact SUV with a strong feature set and a lively driving character, this one makes sense. Good and great deals account for 32.3% of listings, which suggests there’s still room to find a competitive price.

Is the 2015 Kia Sportage reliable?

Owners rate it 4.7/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience for many shoppers, and the expert evaluation also describes it as having proven itself reliable over time. The cost-effectiveness assessment adds that it has been around long enough to establish a reliability track record, which is reassuring if you plan to keep it for the long haul. Kia’s warranty and roadside-assistance coverage also helps reduce ownership anxiety. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about mechanical reputation and more about choosing a well-kept example with a clean history and solid maintenance records.

What should I look for when buying a used 2015 Kia Sportage?

At 63.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the listing price looks unusually attractive. Focus on body condition, repair quality, and signs of prior collision work, since accident history can matter more here than on a typical used crossover. If possible, compare several listings side by side so you can separate cosmetic wear from issues that could affect long-term ownership.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The LX, EX, and SX trims are available, and the SX stands out with trendy 18-inch aluminum wheels with a machined-face finish and black painted spoke pockets. The cabin materials are a weak point, especially in the top trim, so you should pay attention to interior quality and feature content rather than assuming the highest trim feels premium.
• Powertrain: The SX uses a turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine with 260 horsepower and 269 lb-ft of torque, and it feels quick without much turbo lag. The 6-speed automatic and available AWD help round out the driving experience, though fuel economy is not a strong point.
• Safety package: UVO eServices includes 911 Connect, speed and curfew alerts, geographic boundary alerts, roadside assistance access, vehicle health reports, and maintenance alerts. A reversing camera and rear parking-assist sensors are available, but blind-spot warning, rear cross-traffic alerts, forward-collision warning, and automatic emergency braking are not available.
• Infotainment: EX and SX trims get Kia’s UVO infotainment system with eServices technology, plus a premium Surround Sound audio system and dual-zone automatic climate control with a Clean Air purification system. Navigation is optional on the EX and standard on the SX, and the system supports Bluetooth calling and music, USB playback, satellite radio, and Pandora.
• Fuel efficiency: The Sportage SX with AWD is rated at 21 mpg in combined driving, and the turbocharged setup is described as not very fuel efficient.

Which 2015 Kia Sportage trim should I buy?

The 2015 Kia Sportage is offered in 3 trim levels: LX, EX, and SX.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the trim to consider if you want the lowest entry point into the Sportage lineup and care most about value over extras. It gives you the core Sportage experience, but you’ll miss out on the richer tech and comfort equipment found higher up.
• EX: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds Kia’s UVO infotainment system with eServices technology, a premium Surround Sound audio system, and dual-zone automatic climate control with a Clean Air purification system. It also gives you access to optional navigation, making it the sweet spot if you want a more complete feature set without jumping to the top trim.
• SX: This is the trim to choose if you want the most performance and the most equipment. It gets the turbocharged engine, standard navigation, and the sportier appearance and feel that make the Sportage more engaging, though you should weigh that against its weaker fuel economy.

The safety-related UVO eServices functions are a useful bonus, but the lack of advanced driver-assistance features is a trim-wide limitation.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2015 Kia Sportage?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you have enough inventory to shop carefully without feeling rushed.

• Deal availability: 32.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 356 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.37% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 63.2% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $8,587, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2015 Kia Sportage's resale value?

The current average of $8,637 sits slightly below last year's $9,032.

That decline suggests the Sportage is still moving in a buyer-friendly direction, which can help you if you’re shopping now but may limit upside if you’re thinking about future resale. The current pricing also reflects a model that has already absorbed much of its depreciation, so the remaining value loss may be more gradual than dramatic. If you buy well and keep the vehicle in good condition, you’re starting from a relatively low cost basis.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.7/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2015 Kia Sportage safe?

The 2015 Kia Sportage earns a Poor rating from IIHS in front-left overlap crash testing.

It earns a 5/10 safety score from our experts.

The Sportage’s UVO eServices system adds useful safety-related features, including 911 Connect, speed and curfew alerts, geographic boundary alerts, and access to 24-hour roadside assistance. A reversing camera and rear parking-assist sensors are available, but the model does not offer blind-spot warning, rear cross-traffic alerts, forward-collision warning, or automatic emergency braking. That missing driver-assistance hardware is the biggest safety gap to keep in mind when you’re comparing used examples.

Should I buy a 2015 Kia Sportage or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2015 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2015 if:

• 32.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 63.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.37% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2015 Sportage stands out as stylish, practical, and affordable, and it is expected to become an even better deal as Kia readies a replacement.

The bottom line: If you want the strongest mix of value, style, and feature content, the 2015 Sportage is the year to target. If you’re especially price-sensitive, you can still shop confidently, but you should be selective about condition and history because the safety drawback makes a clean, well-maintained example more important than usual.
