The SX gets a turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder with direct injection, good for 260 hp and 269 lb-ft of torque. The Base comes in front-wheel drive (FWD) with a 6-speed manual transmission with fuel mileage rated at 21 mpg city/29 highway. The LX, the most popular trim, and EX arrive with a 6-speed automatic with a clutchless-manual mode that reviewers laud for its smoothness, and it bumps the mileage numbers up to 22/32 in FWD and gets 21/28 in AWD. The SX brings in figures of 22/29 in FWD and 21/26 in AWD. Kia packs the 2012 Sportage with standard goodies such as alloy wheels, a height-adjustable driver’s seat, cruise control and three 12-volt outlets as well as infotainment connectivity.
