How much does the 2015 Kia Sorento cost?

Prices have softened 7.54% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 919 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of options to compare.

Is the 2015 Kia Sorento a good car?

Yes — you’re looking at a 4.8/5 user-rated SUV with an expert score of 6.8/10. The standout strength is Technology at 8/10.

Owners consistently praise the spacious interior, smooth ride, and reliable performance. That lines up well with the Sorento’s appeal as a well-equipped crossover that gives you a polished look and a lot of features for the money. If you want a family-friendly SUV with broad everyday usability, the Sorento fits that brief well.

There are tradeoffs, though: the overview points to disappointing fuel economy and weaker crash-test performance as key drawbacks. Even so, 30.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which suggests there are still worthwhile opportunities if you shop carefully.

Is the 2015 Kia Sorento reliable?

Owners rate it 4.8/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owner feedback highlights reliable performance, and the expert evaluation also points to a vehicle that feels composed in everyday driving. The performance write-up describes the Sorento as easy to drive around town, with a suspension that absorbs pavement irregularities and delivers a calm commute. The cost-effectiveness commentary also notes Kia’s terrific warranty and roadside-assistance plan.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that the Sorento’s value proposition can be weakened by fuel economy and ownership-cost concerns, so condition and maintenance history matter.

What should I look for when buying a used 2015 Kia Sorento?

At 60.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle-history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the listing price looks unusually attractive. Focus on body condition, signs of prior repair, and whether the equipment on the vehicle matches what was advertised. Because some owners have reported missing advertised features, it’s worth confirming the exact equipment on the specific SUV you’re considering.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The LX is the most basic version, while the EX adds a V6, larger wheels, LED running lights, fog lights, roof rails, rear parking-assist sensors, leather upholstery, heated front seats, dual-zone climate control, rear side-window sunshades, UVO eServices, keyless start, a reversing camera, and blind-spot detection. The SX adds 19-inch wheels, power-folding mirrors, a power tailgate, LED taillights, navigation, premium audio, a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, rear air conditioning, and a 115-volt outlet. The SX Limited adds chrome wheels, Xenon headlights, premium Nappa leather, heated rear seats, and a heated steering wheel.
• Powertrain: A 4-cylinder engine comes standard on the LX, while a V6 is optional there and standard on the other trims. The V6 is described as a 290-hp, 3.3-liter engine paired with a quick-thinking 6-speed automatic transmission, and front-wheel drive is standard with all-wheel drive available.
• Safety package: The EX includes a reversing camera and rear parking-assist sensors, while the SX and Limited add blind-spot detection. The UVO eServices system also includes 911 Connect with Crash Notification Assist.
• Infotainment: UVO is responsive and intuitive, with voice commands, smartphone syncing, eServices access, Parking Minder, phone-to-navigation destination sending, and geo-fencing features. The content does not specify a screen size or wireless smartphone integration.
• Fuel efficiency: The performance write-up cites about 18 mpg in the city and 25 mpg on the highway, and the test vehicle returned 18.1 mpg in combined driving.

Which 2015 Kia Sorento trim should I buy?

The 2015 Kia Sorento is offered in 4 trim levels: LX, EX, SX and SX Limited.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the entry point, and it makes sense if you want the Sorento’s basic shape and value without paying for the higher-trim equipment. It comes with the standard 4-cylinder engine, while the V6 is optional.
• EX: This is the best-value trim if you want the Sorento to feel properly equipped. It adds the V6 as standard, plus leather upholstery, heated front seats, dual-zone climate control, rear parking-assist sensors, a reversing camera, and blind-spot detection.
• SX: Choose this if you want the more upscale equipment list, including 19-inch wheels, a power tailgate, navigation, premium audio, a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, and rear air conditioning.
• SX Limited: This is the luxury-leaning choice, with chrome wheels, Xenon headlights, premium Nappa leather, heated rear seats, and a heated steering wheel.

The safety package is strongest on the EX and above, since blind-spot detection is included on SX and Limited trims.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2015 Kia Sorento?

The market looks moderately favorable if you’re a selective buyer.

• Deal availability: 30.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 919 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.54% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 60.8% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $8,271, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2015 Kia Sorento's resale value?

The current average of $8,511 sits slightly below last year's $9,205.

That decline suggests the Sorento has softened in the used market, which can be good news if you’re buying now but less favorable if you’re planning to sell soon. A lower current average price can make it easier to attract shoppers, but it also means you may need to price competitively to stand out. Condition, mileage, and equipment will matter more when you try to protect your return.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2015 Kia Sorento safe?

The 2015 Kia Sorento earns a 5-star overall rating from NHTSA.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Kia’s safety package is strongest on higher trims. The EX includes a reversing camera and rear parking-assist sensors, while blind-spot detection is included on SX and Limited trims. The UVO eServices system also adds 911 Connect with Crash Notification Assist, which can automatically contact authorities after a crash if a paired smartphone is in the vehicle.

There is a notable caveat: the IIHS had previously given the Sorento a Good rating in most crash tests, but a Poor result in the small-overlap frontal-offset test is a concern you should keep in mind.

Should I buy a 2015 Kia Sorento or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2015 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2015 if:

• 30.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 60.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.54% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2015 stands out for its well-equipped cabin and strong technology features.

Consider the 2014 if:

• At $8,017, the 2014 costs less than the current year's $8,511 average.
• It emphasizes practical appeal and stronger real-world fuel economy.

Consider the 2016 if:

• At $9,775, the 2016 costs more than the current year's $8,511 average.
• It brings a more upscale appearance and a refined interior.

The bottom line: If you want the best balance of price, equipment, and shopper appeal, the 2015 is the main target. If you’re especially price-sensitive, the 2014 is the cheaper path; if you want a newer-feeling Sorento, the 2016 is the upgrade path.

How does the 2015 Kia Sorento compare to the 2015 Hyundai Santa Fe?

Our experts score the 2015 Kia Sorento 6.8/10 and the 2015 Hyundai Santa Fe 7.3/10.

The Sorento is the more affordable used buy, with a lower average price and more listings to choose from. The Santa Fe brings stronger expert scoring and a more powerful V6, but it also costs more on the used market. If you want the better value play, the Sorento makes sense; if you want the stronger overall package and can spend more, the Santa Fe has the edge.
